question,
once the fuselage is glued together,
how hard is it to change out the elevator and rudder servos (version 1 SkySurfer).
....looks impossible because its' buried deep inside the fuselage....

Are you talking about a kit where you install the initial servos and then glue up the fuse? If so, when you glue up the fuse use only spaced out spots of glue (like that packaged with the GWS kits or rubber cement) and then tape the seams. This would allow an "easy open" with a #11 Xacto knife or razor blade if it becomes necessary.

thanks for the reply.

What if the Plane was all assembled from factory,
will I have to pry open with hobby knife like you said to
change out the stock elevator and rudder servos?
I dont want to cut out a lot of foam :-)

p.s.
I want to replace those 2 servos with micro Metal ones.

I've not had to split one of these fuelages yet, but I would assume a razor blade or Xacto #11 knife carefully run precisely along the seam would work. Do several "light" passes to make the slice cleanly and eliminate tear-out. Be careful of any wires (if possible) that may be glued or taped along the inside of the seam. However, even if you cut the insulation on a wire attached to something you don't want to remove, it would be easy to fix.

If it's factory installed servos, you should be able to reach inside thru the cockpit with a wide-bladed flat screwdriver & pop 'em loose using steady persistent pressure -- they're only hot glued in. And only a small half-pea-sized dollop applied & quickly popped in will hold the replacement securely. Some like to wrap the servo with blue painter's tape first to give a little better 'bite' for the glue, but I'd reserve that for units you have better access to for easier future removal. The trick here is just enough glue to hold while they're working, but not so much as to make removal difficult.

And let me add - if you're replacing just to install better servos, & have had no failures? I'm using the stock supplied units & so far at least, they're performing flawlessly! (Of course with my typical luck...soon's I brag on 'em they'll go sour, & I should start praying the plane survives and the Tx doesn't explode in my hands.)

Hi folks,
Ordered a Bixler from the Aus warehouse a few weeks back (even though it was on back order). They arrived in the warehouse this week and received confirmation that it was being shipped today! Think I have read through this entire thread since placing the order and I am looking forward to the build and especially the maiden. Thanks for all the advice!

My elevator servo lasted about 30 flights before it just quit working on me. Now that I know whats its like to lose an elevator in flight I would recommend everyone atleast put a quality servo on the elevator. I guess you could make it home with no rudder or 1 aileron missing. But that Elevator is kinda important LOL. I was lucky not to wreck the plane

Kewl! But in all honesty you gotta admit, same thing could've happened with World's Greatest Servo!
(There, that oughta fuel the fires for the bone-pickers!) *LOL*

We don't trust the wing spar. We don't trust the control horns. We don't trust the foam where it hinges without tape. We don't trust the double sided tape holding the spar covers on the wing. Hell, we don't even trust the decals from coming off.
Why would we then trust the stock servos?

It's a real nice hunk of foam. Just buy the kit version and put the good stuff in.

Well I now have 4 spare servos, 2 push rods, a 1900kv motor, ect. Hardware that came off my ARTF Bixler. Yep I shure should have got the kit version.
