Sky Surfer rolls hard right.


I can't figure out why I'm rolling very hard right from the second I release the plane. It's definitely a roll. I taped the ailerons flush with the wing and unhooked them just to make sure I wasn't applying any aileron but it still rolls hard. I let off the stick and with only rudder the nose and right wing crash into the ground. I have flown it and landed it but its a constant fight with me applying full left aileron. I don't think my wing is warped but I'm not sure I would know the difference.

Warped wing, mis-aligned tail feathers.

Or, lateral balance waaaay off.

My bet is one of the former.

It rolls to the right for a reason.

Trim the rudder to the left.

Take pictures of the plane head on that include the wings so we can see it.

Check to make sure your decals or stickers on the wing are not peeled loose. They can change the airfoil.

I'm thinking its the tail feathers. I have thought since day one that they didn't look aligned. I got them back apart and will try to get a better fit with them. Could you tell me more about lateral balance?

I will try to post pics tomorrow. My cell phone camera went out. My motor thrust angle is different than what ive seen from the pics posted here. Looking from front to back of th plane mine was offset to the right. Shouldn't it be offset to the left looking front to back?

emm....same here.......hvnt flown it yet after 1st crash.....I hope it will begone

Just a reminder


I watch for topics being on topic. But, I am flexible. If someone comes in and asks an OT question and someone answers it, I am very OK with that. What I have problem with is when an OT takes up 15+ entries (a standard page). AFAIC, anyone can post anything they want (like, I know that my dachshund can beat up 2500GENE's dachshund) . Ultimately, this is NOT MY thread. It belongs to all the folks that post here. My sole responsibility is to keep page #1 up-to-date and banning anyone that ALL 3 of us agree should not be in this thread. If I get out of line or get involved in heated postings, I trust Prof100 and 2500GENE to keep me straight. I HAVE to trust them and their opinions. That way, the thread can hopefully stay level and helpful to everyone.

Here's an example of hard 'right turn' feathers can look like!

I straightened mine with CF rod, then fixed the unbalanced prop

She's a bit out!
Mine ends up like that every-now-and-then, I can bend it back into place though.
I think I should remove the original flexible glue and use CA.
I'll see if I get round to it, been spending way too much time on my heli's new T-Rex will be in my hands tomorrow

I've had my tail end up like that also. You can simply grab it and twist and hold and it'll start forming back to the left. What is that covering on your plane?
