I've had really good luck with turnigy batteries. I use 25-50c 2200 mah 3 cells and they work great on my 40 amp 450 Watt motor setup. They also balance my plane really well.

Zippy Compact 2700 is about the same weight as a normal 2200 and fits great inside the Bix, it's what I use for FPV flying and I can easily get 30 minutes with light to moderate throttling, probably 45+ with lots of gliding, and that is with my plane heavy as heck with FPV gear, and I still only cruise around at 4 to 6 amps :P

I do not know how the video would have been without balancing the motor (I did not fly) but probably ugly:-) I had a very big noise reduction by balancing the motor (and later putting a 6x4E prop instead of the stock). Here is a video from the FPV flight (no post processing on the video from the GoPro 960):

Fixing those pesky dents.Quote:
UPDATE: CAUTION is needed when using microballons. WEAR A MASK!. The little balls contain glass and if they get in your lungs, it can be very bad news. AJ |

I can do pretty good hammerheads in my SS. It would work a little better if the rudder had more control authority. I don't have much use for a rudder on my SS though in all honesty. I don't like how the rudder has a tendency to roll the plane more than I'm used to (I'm more used to rudders on 3d planes). I find the rudder most useful when I'm trying to kick my tail into the wind or for direction control at low speed.

Short answer - I don't bother because I don't want to take the time.
Long answer..... I do NOT suggest this to anyone. Ok. Having said that, I set my ESC to 3.1v hard shutdown. As soon as I hit it the first time, I restart the motor and land immediately. I like to fly as long as possible on each LiPo that I use. The life of them is cut down to about a year. Most of them I give to my son or other RC pals and toss the rest (properly of course). For this plane, I order 5 LiPos at a time and use all of them in rotation. I date the LiPos when I get them and discard them a year later or after 150 uses (whichever comes first) (I mark them on a label on the LiPo). Sidebar note. Over a year ago, I was flying inverted and the LiPo fell out (I didn't bother to look for it). A week ago, I found it and put it in my plane. I was pleasantly surprised to get about 5 mins flying time from it. If anyone is interested, I will dig it out of the trash and take a picture of it next to a newer one. AJ |

Btw im using all stock setup. Just bought the RTF version of SS. Can all stock setup handle this TURNIGY 11.1V 2200MAH 20C?
Can I use my battery that came with the plane? Or I need to buy new charger? IF yes. Kindly help me what charger to buy on this site. http://helitrex.multiply.com/photos/album/8/BATTERIES This is the only charger we have on our local store here. Thank you. Best, Alvin |
