Just wanted to give ya'll an update! I received my SS today and everything looks good! Nothing is missing or damaged as expected. Now it's time for me to get to work so I can get to playin'! I'll let you know how it goes!

I chopped power and everything went sorta back in place. I finished my 10 minute flight and after I landed I noticed the wings were loose. I pulled them apart enough to see that the spar had spilt. I think I'm going to go the Gene route and put in an 8mm carbon rod.

Bummer only three flights on it!

Jack
Jack,
I only had about 6 flights on mine.
The instructions do say to glue them in.
I prefer not to glue mine in at this time so I will be looking at putting a bigger rod in mine.
Keep us posted on the process you use to open the tunnel to 8mm.

Got any ideas on how to open the tunnel to 8mm without messing up the plane too much?

Did you get the RTF? With the BL upgrade? If you got the RTF, see if you can figure out a way to take out the washers (6) glued in the front without cutting a hole in the bottom of the fuselage. What I thought might work is putting a short length of .078 (or so) piano wire through the nose of the plane and tap them out. The glue they used did not stick very good in mine. I wish I would have tried this method. But, if you do come up with some way to remove them (with a tool of some kind or ????) please let us know. It just seems to me that there should be an easier way. The cut in the bottom of the fuse repairs easily and you can't even tell where it was cut. But, I am hoping for a better way for everyone else.

P.S. Any oil coming your way via the loop current?

Couple of questions

Aj's motor is nice also with the lower kv and your 1800 battery. More efficient.
I also use this

on a wild hawk. Good thrust and long flights.

Yeah, I have that motor on one of my EZ*'s. It works well. I would really like your opinion on the following tests:
1. Have you tried to do a no-power outside loop with your SkyS (i.e. dive to high enough speed and loop it)? It is easy for me in the SkyS and I cannot get the EZ* to do it.
2. After flying both, do you see/feel any differences in how they fly?
3. Have you tried comparing them with the exact motor, ESC, LiPo in both. I haven't. But, IMHO, they seem to fly nearly exactly the same (with ailerons disabled on the Skys). I say nearly because I think the glide on the SkyS is slightly better.
4. Have you tried sustained inverted flying? IMO they are identical in this regard.
5. I still have the stock motor on my original RR SkyS (remember.....I ordered an ARF and got an RR-Lucky I guess). In your opinion, what motor would I use from the following for an equivalent motor or slightly more power)?
HK
2409-12
TR28-26 1650 (the one above)
2835-2200 or 2700 (a couple of our favorites)

RCTimer:
2826-6
2212-6
2208-12
I will hope to end up trying all of them if possible. But, I would like to know what you think?
Oh, to be fair, I should probably make both planes weigh exactly the same to do a good flight comparison. Right now they weigh:
SkyS - 20.3 oz.
EZ* - 23.9oz.

Which transmitter do you have?

My coworker and I bought the RTF brushless.
He got his a week before me.
We had no problems putting his together.
Mine had a different transmitter and receiver.
His was already bound.
Which one do you have?

I think I figured a way to remove the washers without cutting into the fuse.
Run a wire or string around the washers through the cockpit. Mix up a batch of foam soup (heat up a big pot of water).
Pour some hot water into the nose of the plane while keeping a constant pull on the washers.
As soon as the hot glue melts the washers will come right out.
The hot water doesn't harm the foam much. a little bubbling of the the foam on the inside won't be noticed.
I found out the glue melts when I was doing a little nose massage trying to stretch it back out

Pure genius. Well done. Thank you. I hope many others benefit from your suggestion, too.

I don't think you are asking me. I bought 2-arf's (one of them was an RR) and parts for a 3rd (no wings though).
