Receiver


Does the piece of shiny foil on the back of my AR6200 receiver perform any function? The foil is glued to the plastic receiver right behind the servo connections.

The reason I asked is that I removed the velcro I had put on the back of the receiver and the foil won't come off the velcro. I worry that the foil had an electronic function.

Also, the two little antennas tend to curve. Is it important that they be straight?

just fyi - Scott at PFP indicated to me that if you sent the canopy and fuselage, you would get a free bellypan and clear canopy out of the deal. You can confirm by contacting Scott directly at parkflyerplastics.com

If this is already covered, pls. point me to the thread (I used the following search terms and didn't find it: tail, level, perpendicular, horizontal stab, crooked, vertical stab, square).

My Bixler is together, but I've noticed the horizontal stab is about 1/8" out-of-whack. (1/8" low on left tip, 1/8" high on right tip).
The vertical stab seems to be "square".

Before I start slicing and adjusting, how dramatic might the effect be on flying due to the current positioning (stock Bixler 'cept for ripping out the nose washers & having battery up front for dead-on balance)?

you probably have a little twist in the fuselage. Can you shim the horiz stabilizer to correct it?
If not, you should not see any major effect in flight.

It is not critical.

I think I read someone used a little tape to kind of force it into alignment.
Be easy to try it anyway.

I think you should do what you gotta do to get the air frame right. Having the wing and horizontal tail surface equal with each other and both lower surfaces parallel is important from the start, The vertical tail slab should also be square off the horizontal. Doing it right from the get go can eliminate problems in the future with pulling one way or another or unequal control left or right.

My opinion. Having a true and square air frame is a good start.

It's good you noticed that also. Attention to detail is important in this hobby.

I'm trying to find an 'Air Frame' for the V4 and am not having much luck.
Can y'all help with this?

How about I go over to aj's house and swipe a couple of his and send them to ya. Would that help?

or, how about being easy tomorrow and land in one piece? Keep it slow and easy.
A new one will crash as easy as a old one. Fly like Profs grandmother...slow and steady.

I don't own a V4. But, I am not sure the fuselage is any different than a V2-V3. Anyone out there own a V4 that can verify that for this guy. TIA.
One time, I considered buying a V4. But, I think the V4 is only available from Banana Hobby. Their reputation is in the toilet and I would not deal with them if the V4 was free. To say they have a terrible reputation is generous.

I broke the horizontal stabilizer and elevator last time out, glued it all back up but it's twisted a little. I'm taking my rc tool box, a bunch of batteries and a chair for when I'm sitting at the tail gate with my laptop (my tx is adjusted thru a computer) adjusting everything that I can to make this plane fly.

Or just fly it and try to trim it and stay calm.
"I cain't fly my plane I'm going to destory it" doesn't get much sempathy from this board
