getting former section from a 3 view -Autocad

Can anyone direct me to information on how to do this?

I have traced out a 3-view and want to extract sections to create the fuselage formers.

I tried to use solid>section but nothing really happened once I had selected my 3 points.

I've read this post several times but I can't figure out what you are trying to do with the solid>section part. Our you trying to ask AutoCad to generate a half dozen or so fuselage cross sections between two sections that you have created? If so I believe you have to do your drawing in solid modeling.

I'm not using my AC2K very much, but in DesignCAD3K it's "slice by plane" or "plane slice" for solid objects and "plane intersect" for wire frame. The working plane is set and oriented to the former positions for this. These work in 3d modes ("3-view" implies 2d). Maybe this helps?

what I'm trying to do...

I have a basic 3 view of a fuselage,
What I want to do, is using a front view and a side view, extract my former (bulkhead) shapes.

cheers,
mitch.

I think you will want to use the top and side views to extract the "major" cross section dimensions. You will have to interpret the exact shape within the bounds of the major cross sections.

A head-on only view typically only shows the shape at it's maximum cross section, and maybe a few other shapes at certain stations (like a ray-dome cover, windshield, etc.), though you should be able to get the basic shape. It will depend on the plane you're trying to make.

What's the plane you're trying to model?
