Futaba 9C Battery Life

Does anyone know if the stock battery in the 9C will last 3 hours on one charge? I don't want to mess with a LiPo mod but if there's no way to get 3 hours, I may go ahead with it. Any ideas with the stock setup?

Check out helidirect. I just purchased a lipo from them for the Futaba.

You can also get a NiMh high-capacity battery. That way if you forget and leave it on you won't trash your battery.

Fits perfectly and lasts for a really really long time. I'm using Thomas Scherrers's LRS and powering my head tracker from the TX. Just don't forget to turn the TX off when storing it, or when you come back you'll be ordering a new lipo.

3 hours of transmitter time on 1 battery, do you have something you want to tell us?
I have a 3s 2620 Lipo in my 9c that I got from hobby king and it lasts forever.

I have to agree, does last a long time and I feel as if I never have to charge again lol! I use mine to calibrate Dragon Links, test Dragon OSDs.... seems to last a long time!!!! Just make sure you do not charge it full..... doesn't like that when you store it after use. Kind of like going to bed on a full stomach.... not a healthy thing to do and no the 9C does not shut off automatically if no inputs for a while.

ya i have same 2620 lipo, I have not even charged it yet, got 10 flights 20 minute flights or more, sometimes running two batteries on the plane all of this off the storage charge, it's hilarious, it's like my 9c has a small nuclear reactor in it, its at 10.9V now, and still wondering if I should charge it yet.

oh mine is also a 9C

If, like my Hitec Laser 6, the Futiba 9C is designed for 9.6v; try a 2600mah Tx lipo with an LM7810 voltage regulator. If your handy with soldering, that is.

OK, who bought them out?

HobbyKing stock = -20.

Someone planning to run their tx for 6000 hours straight?

those freaking lipo tx batteries sell like ice cream at a fat camp, just put your email in the stock notification, probably will be less than a week. also my turnigy accucel charger came with a deans to tx battery connector (sorry i'm not cool and don't know the name)

Wow, it looks like I'll be doing this mod. Thanks for the link patrick, I've been looking at doing this for a while with my transmitter. Does losing 2V to heat really make that much of a difference on how long the battery lasts? I noticed on the data sheet for the 7810 that they used a voltage of 12.5V to get their specified output. How low can the battery voltage get before the regulator quits working? I guess that would be my only concern with this mod.
