Weekday Impromptu Flying

This thread is for corresponding with other flyers about getting together to fly at various fields in Metro Atlanta during weekdays.

Some of us fly at Mercer after work, so we'll post - probably on short notice - our intent so others can join us.

Feel free to contribute when and where you'll be flying, and you may end up with company.

Hello Rob,

Here are the directions for driving from Atlanta to the Mercer field:
(Originally provided by James)

Go I-85 North bound.
Take the Chamblee Tucker Rd (Mercer University) Exit.
Turn right off the exit ramp, heading East, and towards the university.
Stay on the far right lane.
Lanes will quickly split from 3 to 5 lanes.
Keep moving to the far right lane.
The lane will put you on Flowers Rd.
Flowers Rd. will make a few sharp turns.
Stay on Flowers Rd. for approximately 1-1.5 miles from the highway exit.
The entrance to the athletic field will appear to your left side.
Find parking, then fly.

Fortunately the field is usually fairly empty around 5:30PM onwards. Occasionally folks traverse the field, limiting our flying area, but as luck would have it, the security guard was quite intrigued by our planes.

Not sure what the weather is going to do in the next few days but I'm hoping to maiden the blue foam Ultimate Bipe before the weekend and maybe the blue foam pylon racer. Its looking like Wednesday or Friday before I will be out there again.

I should be flying on Wednesday, and leave for NY the next day. I'm going to try to bring my nephew, if his swim lessons don't run long. I'm glad Michael and I got some stick time yesterday afternoon. Jason, I think you'll like my new Speedwing 400. Maybe see you all there then...

I'll be at mercer on Wednesday if all goes as planned. Not bringing the whole arsenal, but I'll bring what's running.

Tu Lunchtime?

What time on Wed? Lunchtime or after work?
If the winds stay light like this after the drizzle stops, I'll probably go to Mercer at lunch today.

I will try and make it to Mercer tomorrow after work. It is only a 15 minute drive from the office. I will bring the Bipe. It is the easiest to carry and fly. Hmmm......now what do I tell my wife?./?>?>

No... I wish though. I missed so many of our fly-ins. Coming back on Tuesday evening. I guess it's SEFF on the following weekend. Hmm.

I'm going to probably show up at Mercer tomorrow. I won't have the UB finished. I still need to put in the electronics. I had an out of town guest for diner tonight. So hopefully I'll have it for Friday and the weekend.

The UB is with me and coming today as long as the rain stays away. It is a ROG ship now. Nice GWS wheels and all

Once I get turn into Mercer, where from there? It has been about 5 years since I have been over there.

Mike, see above for directions. This is how you get there from Atlanta. So, if you're coming from north of Atlanta, heading South bound on I-85, then take Chamblee Tucker exit, then take a left. The instructions are the same after that... UB is too cool. It'll be my first time watching it fly! See ya.
