Best servo for Projeti? HS-81 or HS-55?

Hi all

About to start on the new Projeti. What servos would you recommend? The Hitec 81's are probably more useful to me in future planes (gliders etc), but I noticed Greg Covey used 55s in his review model. Hobby Lobby advertise them with 55s. Will the 81s fit ok?

Also what length servo extensions does it take?

One last question - I'm getting different reports about whether a 20 amp esc is enough for the 480 motor and 10 cell combo. Any thoughts?

Many thanks

Peter

The Hitec 55's are a perfect fit and work great, I wouldn't recommend changing them. You only need very short (3") servo extensions.

You should be fine with a 20 amp controller and the black long can 480. The model is very quick with this combination, I'm sure that you will have a ball.

Thanks Mike - what prop would you recommend for the long can motor (something that doesn't fry my esc)?

Also is a black long can 400 the same as a speed 480 (such as the Multiplex 480 - http://www.multiplexrc.com/emotors.htm)?

Many thanks

Peter

p.s. sorry I just did a search and realised you had already answered the servo question in an earlier post.

Use the Gunther spoon prop that comes with the kit, or a Graupner 5.5x4.3 CAM prop with aluminum 2.3mm prop adapter.

And yes- the long can 400 is basically a 480 motor.

Good luck.

I know this is now an old thread, but I have the very same question with a new Projeti.

Meant to buy HS 81 servos today but as I was getting stuff for my Shocky at the same time, I bought HS 55 servos instead. Senior moment!

Are these tiny things really man enough for a Projeti and Mega 16/15/4??

Absolutely. People don't give most micro/nano servos credit for just how much control surface they can push...
