I am using the Hobbyking 3A UBEC's, and Anyvolt 3A regulators which I'll have to isolate and test. I also noticed that the Hobbywing Pentium 40A ESC was putting out a lot of noise when powered up but engine at idle... It's time to go RF hunting... Please let me know what else you discover. |

I'm skeptical that the Hobbywing UBEC was your problem. I've done dozens (if not hundreds)
of low power or attenuated UHF range tests with that BEC and the various clones of it and it has zero effect on my range. When you're doing low power testing, the noise sources have an advantage so they often show an exaggerated effect on range so when I find stuff that has no effect at all, I'm pretty confident that it's not aproblem. I've also done two 30+ mile full power ground range tests with one of these https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...Reduction.html only a couple inches from my UHF Rx antenna, again with zero effect. But yes, there are *many* devices that put noise in the 433Mhz UHF band, just to varying degrees. Generally the worst offenders are an assortment of 12V flight cameras (like the SN777 aka VSN500), followed by some GoPros and other HD cameras (Fatshark HD-1), .. followed by the AnyVolt regulators, and most other things beyond that are low enough to not worry about. ian |

Thanks for the info! Don't have near your experience so I'm just trying the best to follow the tests and results. I should clarify, I thought it was a HobbyWing knockoff, but this is the actual UBEC: http://www.hobbypartz.com/ub2liin.html have you tested or heard anything about the Castle UBEC? When doing the RF scans, I had the plane isolated as well as possible and did tests with and without that particular UBEC. That's when my noise floor went from -80DB to -114db. That, along with a minimum increase of 300% on the range check had me convinced, but I'm just starting out so you got to respect your experience and testing also. I have to get another UBEC in the system before I can get back in the air as my EZ OSD will not give me RSSI when just using my esc (esc has a delay and the osd doesn't like that). I'm hoping to do some more (in the air) testing but was just wanting to get some feedback like yours on proven UBEC's. Please let me know what you think of the Castle, and thanks again! Mel |

Yours does look similar to the one HK sells today, but I don't think it's the same.
Notice the voltage select pins and the input wire, are reversed positions. The one that's well proven looks like this http://www.rangevideo.com/index.php?...roducts_id=249 Notice the board is a bit longer, but otherwise same specs. It is what the HK version used to look like. I assume the new one is just a slight redesign to make it more compact. That's all I can offer. ian |

The Skywalker is awsome in many type of flying. I like it a lot to chase planes at the fiel, even 3D ones if the pilot isn't too wild. Take off from ground isn't very good though, see at the end
