Raptor, I'll bet you'll get double the flight time if you use a camera that isnt like a barn door

It was for testing purposes, I needed about 6 oz of weight AND an onboard camera. All my planes shove air!

I put my CF strips in... cut the holes nice... dry fit was great.. I then removed the strip.. ran come CA ofer the strip, and quickly tried to slide the CF strips back in. They went in NEARLY enough... They seemed to bond very quick... so there is maybe 1mm.. maybe half a mm sticking out. So, of you tun your finger across the CF strip, you can feel it standing out a small amount..

Under the wing is the high pressure (lift) side.. Would it be OK to leave it? Only other option would be to maybe put some tape over the strips, so that it's not a 90 degree ange to the wind, but rather a more gradual lift?

I sanded mine down where they protruded slightly because of the dihedral.

Oh my, did I not cover that in detail? Put CF strip in, then drop CA into the slot with the CF already in! I outlined the procedure from start to finish

Quote:
I use 8x1mm CF strip, and cut slots in the wing, sand the CF and whipe any grease or dirt off with some alcohol and then insert the strip in the slots.

If you cut deep enough (no, not *through* the wing) you can still keep the dihedral as the wing is much thicker than the CF strip. Glue in place with thin CA (I use ZAP Thin CA) by dropping a few drops in and rocking the wing so the thin glue is evenly distributed (wipe off any excess with aceton).

Cheers,

Sander.

Might try that.. but... don't want to mess with CF dust. Must just tape it over. Ta.

I read it that you cut the slits and insert. New sentance... Glue in with CA by dropping a few drops...
I did that.. except, I didn't read the part where you said to glue while they're in. Fair enough, just didn't understand.

So.. hows yours flying by the way? Seem you've had the worst results?

I have 4 x 500mm long strips left over... Wonder if I should use them on some other bits?

Had to balance with 2 x 3s 2650mah packs (5300mah) and Canon SD900 digital camera. Over 6 min flight only consumed 600mah from the packs. Turnigy 3530-1400kv with an APC 9X6.

Cool,
I use those motors for my FPV 6ft wings. They are really good, however sometimes they do have bearing problems. I would suggest you go up to a 4cell, you will draw less amps have %25 more power and stay in the air longer
Sweet movie.

Well, I guess I expected more, has nothing to do with the way I built it by the way, just the way the model behaves itself. It needs a longer nose to balance out with just a single LiPo in the nose.

Sander.

Yeah, I asked BEVRC if he could maybe make and sell a nose addon... but no answer. Would be easy for a foam person to make.. Not so easy for us plebs.

I'm sure it would sell...
BEVRC?

Work has started on my SW build. I'm trying to be neat...........

It is being built as a dedicated platform for the GoPro. And I have two wing selections for it, the stock wing for banging around, and I have a 2m sailplane crunchy wing for extended 'floaty' flights that will be R E only.

Specs I'm planning to run with:

2 x 2200mha
E-Flite Power 10 running 9x8 ( Vopt is through the roof, not as efficient as would like, about 74%, but.......just to be different )
Usual ET spaghetti but trying old school static lines
FY20A (Just 'cause I want to try one)
Run of the mill Vtx, cx161,
GoPro in case right up front to get CoG

Thanks all for your build logs, they have been helpful.

but, RTH.

the Skywalker will be definitely my next FPV plane. Maybe there will be a longer nose version soon, so i don't need to mod it myself.
