mudlark,

check out this thread.

I'm going to build a pinwheel and viruvent, and test them. The claims are pretty high for the performance of these cp antennas.

They can be used with the helical also.

SW vs EasyStar? Obviously more storage room but is it a better flyer? My Easy has been a great platform but its limited in storage and every now and then scares me with tip stalls that go into a spiral dive. Maybe caused by to much nose up trim. SW looks like a graceful bird but I am concerned about its wing/body strength.

FINALLY fixed my right banking problem = bad right aileron servo!

The V5 fly's great. I have pulled some pretty crazy dives. I have only added on carbon ribbon spanning the whole wing.

It is almost a MUST to mix in some rudder though. It will bank VERY slowly without rudder mixed into the ailerons; almost dangersously slow on a windy day. I could increase aileron throw but then you start dealing with adverse yaw issues.

VTX and camera order going in soon! 690 Pixim Seawolf and 800mw 1.2ghz Vtx.

Glad you found the problem beaver!

I've taken my new sw out and for the most part it was fine except for going into a dive when the rudder is applied!? Anybody experience this?

Let me say this as plainly as possible... Rubbish !!!

there are no issues with strength on this plane.

So finally got mine put together. And then I weighed it. 2050grams
That's fully loaded with a 4500 3s battery a 1000 3s VTX battery camera etc and a gopro. Also got lights on it. Oh and flaps.
Is it plot is it porker?

Bit more detail: when Right Rudder is applied, the Right Wing dips sharply. This is exacerbated with higher speeds. Could it be my rudder throw is too much? Causing the wing to stall??

I have the V2 and I am doing all the mods on the form.

A friend just got the V5 and he has only a camera and trans with a 4000 battery.

He put the CF rods going outside up to the HS.

I can say I seen him do loops.

It's in Austria near the German border.

I maidened my SkyWalker v5 today!

Everything is pretty much stock though I did purchase the pan/tilt pod from ReadyMadeRC and installed that in there. I wasn't running any cameras today, just the equivalent weight of the FPV stuff tacked in on top so I could get my balance correct.

The plane flew nicely in the 10mph of wind that I had but I noticed that I needed some down elevator trimmed in and that the tail wags a bit. I've seen folks mention stiffening up the tail but I haven't seen any pictures of what they are doing. Does anybody have any advice? On my next flight I'm going to aim a keychain camera back towards the tail so I can see how bad it really is!

A few more test flights to be done and then I'll load up my FPV stuff.

Besides the elevator trim and the tail wag the plane flew pretty steady and I was able to make some low passes without too much worry.

Test glide

Hey guys,
I'm new to this thread...and this build. I have just completed my first Skywalker and honestly this is my first plane. I've been flying the Mikrokopter heli's for 2 years now.
I'm a bit nervous to do my first test flight. With heli's I'm used to being able to do quick hops to make sure all controls are right, etc.

Is there way to check everything with maybe a hand launch with the motor off to see if this glides and tracks like it's supposed to? I don't know if this thing will glide if I just toss it and I don't want to nose-dive it into the ground.

Any other tips, suggestions on pre-flight checks...or any tips on getting your feet wet flying a plane vs a heli. yes...I've done it quite a bit in RealFlight simulator...so I'm not afraid of being able to fly it once it's up. I'm just worried about getting it up.

The AUW will be about 1970g with all the fpv and gopro...but that will come after some test flights.
My COG is right at the servo wire channels on the wing.

Any thoughts, tips?

Thanks Guys.
