RC = FUN
RC, if you're not going to use tilt then I'd suggest putting a little down tilt into your camera because all your going to be able to see is the sky and that doesn't help much for orienation

Thanks, yeah that cam is sort of temporary.

Should I really put the Vid Tx and GPS in the wings? I'n not planning on going any more than 3Km. Maybe Vid Tx just behind the cam like in Easystar and GPS on flat spot just behind prop?

Cheers

Either build or buy an IBCRAZY inverted vee (Only $15) and don't use that crap rubber ducky antenna. It will make a HUGE difference.

I put the GPS behind the motor on that flat spot and it works really good. -Tyler

Put it on the left wing. Go back a few pages and you'll see pics. -Tyler

The GPS needs to be horizontal not vertical to receive the satellites. Here is a link to my SW with pretty much the same equipment:

Great job herc.
What's an "air plantation" anyway? They grow air there?

Are those 3S or 4S packs?
Looks like 3S.
What size prop will you be running?
With a 950 kV motor on 3S you may need an 11" or 12" prop.

My layout is almost identical to what you have. I mounted my 700mw Vid Tx behind the cam, like on the easy star and the gps in front of the camera where the screw goes to hold the canopy section down. I consistently get 11 sats and have gone over 4 miles without any problems. If you plan on flying long range, the wing tip would be better, but not as convenient.

They are 3S, I'm worried about that yes.... I think RSowder uses similar setup with 9x6 with great results, will see how it goes.

Thanks for the info!! ^^^^^^

I'm using a 10x7 because I have Power 15, 950kv motor. Works well.

I wouldn't put the GPS underneath the ESC either. The ESC might block the GPS signals.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

It is a place where people can live on an active runway and keep planes in their garage. I guess the "plantation" part is supposed to give it a southern feel. I didn't name it but I sure am happy they let us fly our RC stuff there!
