i am not sure how is the 1400KV gonna kill the ESC? Quote:
subsonic, i am using a 4s, because because of the CG, a 3s is a little light, even when I shove it up all the way to the nose. I have glued the motor to the skywalker and taking it off is not an option. could you possibly suggest me a prop plz. thanks. |

Neither. They are both fine for this application. It's the prop you are trying to spin with that motor at that voltage (4S). It is drawing too much current for your ESC to handle. The motor won't start after you run WOT because the ESC is likely going into thermal protection. Since you cannot replace/remove the motor, I would highly recommend going to a 3s pack - a heavier one as shadrack suggested. An 8X4 APC on 4S will get you back to a similar current level as the 9X6 on 3S with your motor, but it will be less efficient. I copied the very popular 3S, NTM 3536 1400kv with 9X6 APC prop setup and found it produces way more power than I need. Maybe one day I'll need the power to get out of a jam, but WOT can get this airframe moving fast enough to get into trouble IMO. I can't imagine running it on 4S. |

Perfectly said Tnug.
I run a separate BEC, CC 10 amp, that powers my system. Have the basic 4 servos, plus ezuhf, and an FY31 being powered by the BEC. The video system gets it's power from the current sensor in the Immersion system. OSD, vTx 600 mW 5.8, and camera get their power this way. I go with the one battery system as I would rather have one point of fail instead of two. Some of the guys that make this stuff suggested it and so far it has worked out well. Some things are just not worth risking and thermal shutdown on an ESC taking out control is asking for it. I am never pulling close to max on this system, even with wide open throttle. This plane isn't meant to fly full throttle. It is meant to fly efficiently and carry payload while doing so. Souping it up doesn't really make much sense. I have my Yak with a camera on it when I want to suck my balls into my body. lol I prop for efficient wattage use as voltage drops and you have to compensate with increased amp draw. Use the orb 1200 kv motor and love it. Very efficient. |

I was definitely not flying efficiently, I was not going for any record endurance, but was expecting a bit better range. Thanks for your inputs, I can only try again in a weeks' time. |

Thanks guys! i really appreciate it, all the info has been great, i did do a test run! and F%&# i was pulling a huge amount of current, i have ordered a 3s 5000mAh battery with 9x4 and a few more with lower pitches! just another quick question please! sine i don't fly much! (would love to though) what is the best and cheap flight controller (stabilisation) system for Skywalker with waypoints, (which could show my location on google maps) currently i am using a kk2.0 for stabilisation, with no failsafe, since i am a still a noob and too busy with uni and with very limited budget, what would you guys suggest, I know there are plenty of options out there. but i am not sure which one will suit me the best! |

I have had a few thoughts on the ArduPilot. But i still haven't found much information and guides how to set it up. I want to get something so i don't have to upgrade in the future and waste more money. I know i am still a beginner, but don't you think we should get the best of any components? |

FY31 has waypoints and integration with google earth I think. I have played with it, you can set up to 8 waypoints, altitude, etc.
I would much rather fly though so have never used it. It will also give you stabilization. If you check youtube, there are great videos on it. |

I noticed my Scorpion is quite resistant to rotation by hand - is this normal? Maybe there's something wrong with it (It's seen more than a few battles) and it's consuming more Amps than a new motor? |
