Hey guys I'm new here, lots of good info on site.
Concerning making esc to battery leads longer and not
having problems, take a look at this thread.

Nice theoretical information, if you want real practical experience look to the guys who have successfully been using ESCs for years with extended battery side leads.

You can educate yourself to the theory and then spend time in your workshop messing around with caps, wires, soldering, etc, that's great for the uninitiated.

I will be at the field with my long battery leads flying..

Plug lipo to ESC without radio on...FIRE!

Hi,
one of my customers call me to inform me that he plug the lipo to the ESC and didn't turn power ON of his radio, and everything burned in the plane (servos wires, ESC...I will see that when I get the plane back).
Did you know that it could happen? I never saw that before.

Maybe he plugged it in backwards.

I soldered the battery leads in reverse polarity once and did the same thing. So X2 on above quote. Not saying it couldn't have happened as anythings possible, but I've never heard of it.

I did not bother to read any of it. If in 7 years i have not had a problem doing it the right way I see no reason to change now.
There is a lot of info on the web. Some is BS. It is up to the reader to decide if "Change"is worth it LOL.

I was reading the 1430mm Airfield Corsair's ZTW brand ESC manual, on the first page "The Maximum length of the battery pack wires shall be within 6 inches". I figured the smart people that develop this stuff maybe knew something I didn't. The developers at Castle Creations have said to limit ESC to Batt leads. Oh well, just hang it together like I want to and go fly, LOL.
