Hi,

@Goldguy: thx for this tip I haven't got any problem so far, but i'll keep taht in mind !
I think i did'nt get any toruble cause it's a small plane, you never fly these things far away

@j2m2t2: I'm suing a 3S/610mAh Lipo up to 3S/800mAh. Flying time varies from 6,5 up to 8 minutes.

So, i gues i'm gonna see a lot of depdarts (pics !!!)

Kind of looks Alula-ish.

That gets me wondering, this may make a good simple fun sloper too.

It kind of is. I scaled down the thumbwing (posted here in scratch) to 27" WS. I tried this before but struggled with the fuse. This seems like a great match.

If your fairly proficient with flying it, since it has ailerons, then flying the DepDart shouldn't be too much of a problem. Just remember on the first flights, don't fly it at full tilt until you have it all trimmed out.

It's so simple to build, then repairs should be easy and that will prolong it's life while you learn to fly it.

Elevons on a flying wing work like this...............give right rudder command and the model will roll to the right, not turn, but roll. To get it to turn once you've started it to roll, you have to give some up elevator. In other words, it 'yank n' bank'.

Most important....keep it light.

You'll find a big difference between this and you cub, as the cub is a very heavy model and always though they were not a great trainer because of that.

Just have fun............

Good morning all,

Thank you RCElFlyer for this plane !
I want to build one to try to improve my flying capacities !

I have a problem with the PDF files : the wingspan of the printed drawing is about 65 cm and not 71 cm, as previously indicated.
As I am not a specialist with the printing systems ... I probably make a mistake !
Could you please check this point and, maybe, post a DXF version for my Autocad software.

Thank you and good fly

Hi,

you're welcome. I loved this little plane too

What plan did you use ?
I used the A0 plans (non tiled version, in the tiled version i had the same problem as you mention.

Could you try the A0 plans ?
Let me know !

Here it is ready for maiden. Thanks RCEFlyer for the plan and I hope you don't mind that I went with a forward swept wing.

Also if anyone wants the scaled down thumbwing for their DepDart I can post it here.

First flight a success, flies fast and smooth. Not floaty for low ground maneuvers but it will loop and roll with ease, not like a drill, needs a little room.

Im running the 1500kv blue and red wonder with an APC 6x4. 3S pulls less than 8amps WOT and its plenty fast especially at only 27"WS. Ill try and get some video soon.
