UHF LRS Pro Antenna Question

I've purchased Thomas Scherrer's UHF LRS system for a Futaba 9CAP. Which ground station patch antenna should I use for the transmitter? My plan is to place the antenna on a tracking tripod with the eagle tree setup. I'm also looking for the the best cable to use that is around 20ft in length.

Why do you think you need a patch antenna on the transmitter?
Planning to fly over 50km away?

Not necessarily, but I'm not sure what the default distance of a stock whip antenna gives? Was just going for the gold in reception, not distance.
