Climbing spikes = spurs
But, you would also want/need boots with a steel shank in the step, rope, lanyard, and harness to be safe. haha.

I was able to pick up a Champ on Ebay (thanks Mac) that had a broken wing and the tail was a bit wrinkled. No problem gluing the wing back together, and the tail feathers have not given any trouble after a bit of work on them. Now I have a Champ to enjoy while vacationing in Florida. (Any of you micro flyers near Daytona Beach?)

I was able to solo my Dad who is 92 years old, proving once again that this is a great father/son hobby
Off topic, but is your dad a WWII vet?

Not to sound too much like an excited newbie, but I had the Champ out tonight and figured out how to do hammerheads. I've been doing loops since the 2nd time I flew it, and did a sort-of Immelman the other day.

I know it's a sedate trainer, but what kind of aerobatics have people here gotten the Champ to do? I searched all 900+ pages of this thread, but didn't find much.

Aerobatics?
A Champ?
I just fly it around and do an occasional loop.

You could try ,get going fast, pull a loop,at the top of the loop push the rudder fast to the left or right (you choose).
It should come from upside down in the loop to right side up flying of the top of the loop level.

Diving toward the ground and pulling up at the last second is a rush, but can end badly!....but it is a rush!!

You can throttle off and try an outside loop. Mine just hangs upside down. Just be sure that you have the altitude to loop it back before it finds terra-firma.

Put it into a dive with full rudder. Neat corkscrew action but if you have a weak wing you may find it this way.

A friend of mine has a really neat stunt he likes to do with his Champ.

He gets it flying as high as he can, then goes full-throttle away from himself until his stock controller can no longer steer it.
Then he watches it fly -- far-far away -- never to be seen again.

He's done it twice now.
It's very exciting! Especially when he speeds off in his SUV to try to find where it landed.

The LHS guy loves him for doing this stunt and encourages him to do it more often!
