You betcha Thump, that's plenty big. I'm sure I'll always stay below 50 unless I move in with you, Mac, or Viper! You poor guys have to put up with those tiny fields of yours. Isn't this hobby a blast? This is like motorcycles to me, but I can afford a lot more planes than bikes. I can't wait to take out the jug with the upgrades.

BTW, my T-28 um got attacked by a red tailed hawk today. Pretty close call but really was funny.

Yes indeed! The Champ has staying power...that's why. Y'know, beginners needn't ask 'which plane should I get,' all they have to do is look for a plane with the most pages of discussion, the Champ and UM T-28 are right up there. People keep talking about planes that they love

I remotored my own Champ the other night and took it out the next morning. I left the rubber spinner off for a more scale look...big mistake, the poor thing was now obviously tail heavy. Held in plenty of forward stick and brought her in. I was slightly shocked at the power level of the new stock motor...after six months the old one had been getting tired, but so incrementally I barely noticed.

Evidently the three short tape strips behind the CG along with the lack of a spinner had shifted the balance aft a bit.

I reattached the spinner with canopy glue, and shoved a small steel nail into the foam at the front of the battery recess area to get as much of it as forward as possible but still not visible unless you look very carefully at the cowl flare on the bottom to see the head of the nail flush with the foam.

Easy...typical of the versatility of this great aircraft. I don't know if the weather will cooperate to get more morning flights in, but the Champ's ready to go, whether this week or next spring. An awesome airplane.

Put some of the LtCols great little LED lights on the Champ today. First flight at dusk and it was awesome. Gonna go try it again in a few minutes before it is pitch dark. Only trouble if the temp is in the 30s and dropping fast.

Just had a funny repair session repairing the tail of the Champ. Please tell me I'm not the only one that did this.

Installed the tail and stab and CA'ed it down. Made the conscious decision not to put the control horns on first, so I could make sure that the horns went on the right way. Installed the rudder horn, heard the "click" just as I realized I put it in the wrong way (because I could see the hole for the elevator and it was on the same side as I installed the rudder control horn). Grumble.

"How the heck to do you get the [email protected]&N thing off!?!", I said to myself.

After 10 minutes of struggling with it and trying not to break anything I popped the clip off with a hobby knife and it went flying across the room. Grumble.

"There's no WAY I'm buying another tail set just for that stupid clip!", I yelled at no one in particular. The cat took off out of the workshop.

After a 5 minute search and I found the clip. Installed both control horns and powered it up. "But, wait... the transmitter isn't reacting the right way... How did I cross the control rods?" Nope, that wasn't it. Wait, there's no way I can cross them... What? Oh. Grumble

Then I noticed the extra hinge tape on the top side of the elevator hinge. It dawned on me that I installed the tail upside down. That made the elevator hole on the wrong side, which is how I installed the whole thing wrong in the first place.

If others are trying to take the tab off its best to possably put a peice of tape orwork in a box to not let that happen. white floor oh boy, I did that on video LOl.

After all is fixed. how do you feel now. I bet raring to go. goo dluk in getting her up tee again. keep us posted
