A50-16S max amps/watts?


I have this motor in my 68" Velox and 6S voltage.

It is the recommended and works great with a 18x8 prop (APC)

I'm at 70ish amps and 1600+watts.
Can I go to 18x10 and 79ish amps and 1750+watts?
I'm talking APC here. Maybe I should try some wood props to drop the amps a bit.

I have the ICE100

The specs for the motor is like 1250watts. But everybody runs them on this size plane and over amps them a ton. Mine doesn't get hot so guess it's OK.

But 18x8 and 70amps and 1600watts max for it?
Can I go 80amps and 1800watts with it?
How far over is to much with this A50-16S?

An 18 x 10 APC E prop on 6s is just fine with this motor..........no worries.

Why does Hacker de-rate their motors so much? Even their team members post about proping up to watts that are almost double what they publish. Is it just to get out of warranty claims? It sure makes it a pain in the when trying to find the right motor for an airframe.

All I know is that when I told Ranier Hacker at Toledo that I was running a A30-10XL at 65A, 1000W he just shook his head and sort of cringed. Motor was out in the breeze in a 60" flat foamy bipe and never got warm. Of course, it was hardly ever at full throttle.

I'll sharpie the 18x10 black and try it at lunch today.

Each flight I put my finger in the cowl and rest it on the motor whilst I take the battery out. With the 18x8, it was never hot. I'd put 3100-3300 back into the 6S5000 after seven minute flight, so if all's well, I should be able to take a couple more amps/watts out of my present set up.

18x8 is fine and runs good. Just when I'm hovering and "backing up" by lowering it to the ground, tail first and have to abort at WOT...it is pretty sluggish. But I understand it's a 8-9pound plane and isn't going to rocket away like my little Slick does. Just thought a bit more power/pitch might be good.

WOT on level pass is fast, but seems to max out by the pitch of the prop and seems to "need another gear."

Be interesting to see how you like the X80, I wasn't that keen on the throttle response/acceleration with it and swapped it out in the end for the ICE.

You just have to play with your throttle end points, and throttle curve to make it more linear. I agree that it really sucks and makes the plane feel under powered stock. All of the power is in the last 10% of the throttle stick movement.

Hey Boyz.

I flew it at lunch.
Much better and stronger.

In the shop with 18x10 it was about 80amps and 1800watts.
With 18x8 is was just over 70amps and 1600+ watts.

Motor did not get much over warm.

I'm posting a vid of it in "Electric Vid" section....gimmie another ten minutes for it to load.

Good to know, If it's a problem I'll swap it out, but I'd rather not have to.
