ThunderPower TP-820CD : New 2010 Charger from TP

Has anyone heard any info on or seen the latest ThunderPower charger?

Looks like this one will be called the TP-820CD, so I'm guessing 8 cells with 20A max. charge rate.

I'd most like to know anticipated release, max. watts, input voltage range, and expected price.

It looks like an original design, but I expect that someone will notice a striking similarity and possibly shared pedigree with another charger out there. AFAIK the only "original" TP electronic device that I know of was the ol' 1010C.

What about the TP425 and the TP535 and might as well include the TP205 ,210 and 205V ,210V balancers also?

I thought those were all copies of other chargers/balancers, based on appearance and specs, but I am definitely not sure of the original design source for any of these items and I appreciate you pointing them out. I'd be interested to hear if you know these to be original TP products. So few companies are responsible for actual innovation any more.

I know Charlie Wang was the brains behind the TP Balancers and that they were the first with more than 30 mA balancing power and the first with two stage balancing and that is still not commonly available even over 4 years latter.

I have never seen clones of the two mentioned TP chargers but then I do not get out much. Who else has a 4S 2.5A and 5S 3.5A auto cell detecting,remembers last settings with LEDs that clearly show what is going own? Remember these were producted long ago before LCD displays became common. If similiar chargers exist my guess they are TP clones not the other way around.

And then there is this

A little more info on this one:

* 8 cells
* 2 independent ports
* 20A max. each
* @ 350-400W per port

Still no ETA or price at this point.

A video of the charger is here from the 2010 show in Ohio. The display doard behind him looks like it has two fans in the back.

New TP-820CD shown at Joe Nall 2010

Saw this charger last week (Friday May 14, 2010) at the Joe Nall 2010 Show in Woodruff, SC!

Looks like some serious competition for the new Hyperion Super Duo!

Agreed on the dual screen. I love the dual screen on the MegaPower duo charger. Hopefully the Hyperion SuperDuo will have a dual screen.

Any word from the 2010 show in Ohio or JoeNall when this will be out?

Super Duo Display change...not likey!

I would tend to think that the new Super Duo from Hyperion will have the same dull 2-line display as it has before with their three previous Duo's.

Yes they upgrade the design to handle more power and work with a higher accuracy...but their display has always been the same.

Thanks, while we wait for it to come out... for folks who need to charge two 6s 5000Mah 45c packs at the same time, in a theoretical race, this TP charger with two 20A ports will beat any single port 30A charger in parallel since 30A parallel then becomes 15A per battery?

True however there are (soon to be available ) chargers which will do 30Amps. up to 1,000 watts using 24 V power supplies. One basic fact many do not realize that these high output chargers take major input to deliver massive output. You can not get something for nothing and you need approx. 20% more from the power souce than the charger delivers.

any updates? as per the front panel specs on this, it appears the Power Lab 8 is more powerful.

Bantam is working on a new high power charger that they are planning to release by year's end (2010).
