FMS Giant P-47 EPO 1400mm Warbird

Looks like FMS are following suit with another big Foamie after the success of their P-51 and about to be released P-40. If it's as good as the mustang then they should be onto a winner I think

FAQ's

CG is 80-85mm from LE

Batteries used 2200mAh - 4500mAh 20-30C 4S

Where to buy: Nitroplanes(Airfield brand), PW-RC, RC-castle, Aerialhobby, XtremeRC, ChargedRC

Replacement and/or upgrade motors: Turnigy SK 4250 650, Turnigy SK 5055 580, stock motor available from Hobbyking and the above stores

Stock ESC has been reported in some cases to have problems, here is a manual that has been reported to work for programming http://www.giantcod.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=888

Advisable to run an External BEC 3A minimum or atleast an ESC that uses a SWITCHMODE onboard BEC.

Following throws are from a fellow forum member:
Ailerons: 1/2" each way (those are my low rates and that's all I use on her)
Elevator: 3/4" each way low rate
1 1/2" each way high rate only for taxi to keep the tail planted
Rudder: As much as you can get
Flaps: As much as you can get
I take off with half flaps at about half throttle but mine does not have the stock power system.

Yeah it is, atleast you won't have to worry about a spinner though if you keep it stock I just emailed aerial hobby who are also selling the FMS P-40 to see if they'll be carrying this model and when it might be available so will post when they reply

I know an 11inch prop works well on the similar sized Durafly Spitfire so I wonder if this 4blade from Hobby Lobby would work on it?

J...Well if the FMS P-51 uses a 14" prop...I would imagine the P-47 could use that or larger..no !

This is true, I guess it comes down to what motor they put in it The P-51 is using a 600KV and if the P-40 comes out with the same then it makes sense that this P-47 would have the same. It was just a thought that this 4blade might work as the Big Spitfire uses and 11 inch prop and goes quite well with it however that motor is a 36-42 1100kv on 3S and they've stated that this will run on 4S. I hope they offer a 4blade or 2 blade option like the extra 2blade spinner they chucked in with the P-51 that would be nice......wink wink FMS

Yes, not because I am some sort of Tree Hugging Stock equipment Lover but, because of all the alternative motors only one comes close to the Low Kv and highest Torque motor but, the stock is super light and allows for swinging a large diameter propeller and still be in the mid 30 AMP range such that you can get away with using the smaller and "Lighter" batteries. The model thereby is maintained as "Light" as possible.

For this P-47, I would use a 12.5 inch 4-Blade with 8-Pitch.

Carlos
