Thats interesting. When you put you money in a bank, what do you think they're going to do with it?

I like the bldgs. in the background. One says Corp INC, one looks to almost say Google, and I cannot read the first word in the one on the right.

That is a Bush era cartoon, I gare on tee.

Great drawing though.

Leverage it 18 or 20 times on some investments. Well, depends on the bank...

Yes. I had not seen it before but like it too.

The Dems yell about the bad GOP and vice versa, but the real common problem is the corrupting influence of big money in politics. The cartoon hits that nail on the head.

Re: the theme of the OP - I remain mystified by those who blame Obama and the Democrats for the deficit. The major components of the deficit:

1. Iraq war
2. Afghanistan war
3. Bush tax cuts
4. Worst recession in nearly 80 years
5. Stimulus spending re: #4

When Obama and the Democrats are clearly to not to blame for 3 out of 5, and arguably not to blame for 4 out of 5 (I would hope we could at least agree responsibility for #4 is shared between the parties), it defies all logic to solely blame Obama/Democrats for deficits.

It's so ironic. If Obama and the Democrats had not done #5, then I would be yelling at him along with the Conservatives - although for different reasons.

The influence has to go or at least be hobbled before we can get any real governing for and by people done.

The influence that has always existed?

Logically the ramification of your assertion is that no "real governing for and by people" has ever been done.

The wealthy and powerful have always had the greatest influence over government.

Absolutely true.

However before the advent of mass electronic media, they were not able to deliver expensive unsolicited messages into the homes of voters hundreds of times during an election cycle. And until the introduction of the particularly ruthless practices deployed by Lee Atwater, the message was not as effective in playing to the baser emotions of voters.

IMO the combination of money, electronic media, and sophisticated marketing techniques are a new threat to the ideal of democracy. There is a real threat that the ideal of "government by the people" is being transformed into "government by the most wealthy and ruthless people".
