GUYS, dont play around more with these "world record" holders with their 250 or 290 mph funjets with that "magic" motor.... they are not worth any more attention.. they feed from our rage and frustrations
When I get my ultra ready with same setup, I will get the runs done, then we can see how fast it really is... |

We've all had good days when everything runs sweet as a nut but with no vid evidence. I think if a certain setup is known to go xxx mph, then to come on here and say 'Hey guys, had a great day, I reckon I picked up another 5-10mph due to favourable conditions/ a dive etc, it was really moving.....soz no vid', then it would probabaly be accepted. Doppler may be able to give some dodgy results depending on where you take the sample, but a posted vid of a speed run will have dozens of people running it through their 'puter to see what reading they get and then posting their results. If a speed run can be done for a phone app/radar gun reading, why not for a doppler vid? A lot use the keyfob cams off ebay, not exactly expensive, I ordered a new one at the weekend for less than £8 delivered because although I use Ice and can pull my rpm off it, I want to know what a doppler reading comes up with in comparison. I may be dissapointed in the results, or I might be happy, but they are what they are. |

Naaa, dont wait for me to tell the truth about this setup, I havent yet glued my ultra together, yet to put in servos and motor.... there are a few out there with this setup, just make one video of it, thats it... but it seems there is a hyp going on here with that motor, some sort of expanding lie just growing, that motor is getting faster and faster, and soon we see 269mph and the motor is cool.. must be 128% efficiency on that motor soon...
Other has tried with kontronik motors and other great motors, pushing to +3kw and in range of 185-190mph, but this SUPER motor goes 230mph EASY on less power.. I have no more to say... |

All in all we just have to remember, they are diving and are good at it.
Its only a matter of time, we will see what information is important to us, and we can compare and reccomend. I see markus and pilot side very clearly, its ok to dive. You went really fast !! Nothing wrong with it, we just want to see the straight and level opposite direction passes. Its only a matter of time. Can we move on untill any video ..........please ? |

Agreed.
Next week I will try to capture good video, level, both directions with the HK motor on 6S. I need a few things to come together, including weather to do it, been very windy/hot here. I am guessing best will be average of 190ish. I have 100% faith in my RADAR gun, but the Doppler fans can go nuts too. I have a completely different setup to try on 8S that will be as close to 200 as I can get, but time will tell. For now, at least we have some video and builds to talk about, (more fun than the continued talk about what others are going to do, eventually.........) Quote:

Thanks Markus !!
Its not just about going nuts ............. Its about answering the dozens of PM's asking details that could be answered with those passes, and the many dozens in the future ............. how many flights can it go before it spits the rear bearing ? How much more before it actually does smoke ? We really cant answer those questions from wind assisted dives. Fly safe !! Thanks ! |

Sebbe,
Good to see your back......... If you need some 1 1/2 oz cloth or Polycrylic for the covering, send me a PM and I can maybe help you get some. The Polycrylic is about US $8.50 and the cloth around $5 bucks. It really helps on the elevons for strength. Also, its hard for me to see the FJ when over 1500 feet away. For a 7 second pass, i.e., even if I came out of a level turn and was at 100 mph, I really don't think it would hit its max.speed within 3 or so secs. Since thats really past my safe comfort zone, I'll just continue to do what's best for me. On the HK SK3 1900 kv motor, well, I wouldn't plan on it lasting very long and at the power level being used, if I get 20 flights before it smokes, I will be shocked! The advice already given about strengthening the motor area is very important. We have had one motor simply torque itself off the end unexpectedly. With the motor coming at you, it can be extremely unsafe. Food for thought. Best, Regards, Tom. |

I have a Turnigy 85amp ESC that powers up very quickly also. Moving the throttle from flight idle is like ..nothing...nothing... then it seems to spin up to at least 1/2 throttle rpm or more. I've tried to work it out with the given settings, but no joy.
--My Castle speed controls seem to work just fine. |
