Here is my friend's (Karl S.) Fun Jet Ultra that was clocked at 163 mph, and we know it can do better than that, since this was only the first flight!

Karl's Fun Jet Ultra - 163 Mph (0 min 42 sec)

in my 2 year experience with RC, this is the first time I've been up to 6cell. I burned my finger from touching the esc during my 2 minute run up test, to make sure everything is running smoothly. Everything is doing great, but there is a lot of heat. Im sure this is normal for 6S correct?

Heat is not directly related to the number of cells, but a function of the current. Heat losses = I² (current squared) x R (esistance).

If you are running high currents, your battery, ESC, motor etc. should be up to it.

Airplanekid333,

2 minutes static test???

Normal static test should be about 3 seconds, maybe 4 seconds at most!!! (pending setup and relative AMPs).

Maybe even couple extra seconds longer if it is KV test.

______________

Part throttle heats up the ESC a LOT more compared to being full throttle.

If you did a 2 minute static test at varying throttle settings, it is possible to have damaged your ESC. Cross your fingers.

I did a rookie move (and posted about it) a few years ago. Most of my FET chips slid off the board and one of the main fat wires also became de-soldered and moved over and got itself soldered on elsewhere.
***Part throttle static test can spell disaster and destruction to ESC....mine was a new Castle Phoenix 80A ESC, and draw was in the 60-70A range (5S).
Told Castle Creations the truth and tried to pay for repair, But the Castle tech didn't let me pay.

I don't agree with you, but it does not matter. We don't have to be in agreement.

I would suggest you plug everything together, give a quick 2 second no load at home. If everythings fine, go to the field, NO more testing. Fly it with your 6 cell setup. If it held together for 2 minutes on the ground, it should fly (unless you already damaged something, which is why I suggested the 2 second no-load @ home). Is this the same ESC that got hot before ? https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...postcount=4277

Which motor ? Turnigy 3648 ?
What ESC ? Hobby King 90-100 amp ESC ?
What battery ? 6s2200 (30/60) ?
What prop ?

it is the 3648 with 90-100amp, on 2200 30c, turning APC 7X6. yes it is the same esc that got hot and its still living. Im charging right now to see how much Mah was used during the 2 minutes at half throttle with the prop on. Now i know not to do that again and only do it for 5 seconds now. Thank you

How do you interprete emoticons?

This subject came up during a conversation with Kevin Hines and it may indeed be something I have never given much thought about - people interpreting emoticons wrong.
