Guys,

Cold days are here.

Anyone feels like doing a write up covering cold related issues?

Maybe someone else do a little writeup on safety....Good idea to talk safety occasionally (not too often though ... Haha)

I can start:

* Lipos need to be warm before flight
* Some H-wing/plush esc:s dont start when colder then +5-6 degrees celcius, be sure to fly quick to build up the heat.
* Some servos are acting weird/slow when cold, check !
* be careful if going from cold to warm(in car), water can be generated and after time destroying your electric stuff...

----- someone else can proceed

I assume you called Multiplex USA, but those are not the producers of the kits. Do you really think, Multiplex would go through the trouble changing the decor sets for the FJ Ultra to match the white Elapor? The green camouflage decals for the DogFighter were also planned to be used on grey Elapor, but while the prototyes were grey, all production models are now plain white too.

The color has been changed from grey to white. Many customers preferred a white version, because it also provides a better base for individual color schemes.

Interesting....it seems like MPX has a hard time managing Elapor production, justifying shipping, etc.

Oh well... grey was probably the worst possible color for a plane designed to go very fast... but I have to admit that it is a very pretty color scheme.

If I didn't have a grey one, I would be happy with a white one as well.

Guys,
I am running an ARC 28-47-2...can anyone reccomend the best possible battery/prop combination for this motor in a FJU?

I have an 80A ESC...but if the motor can safely handle more amps, I'd upgrade that.

Thanks a million for any suggestions.

FWIW, I ran it on 4s/2200/30C with a 6x5.5 prop and it wasn't particularly quick.

bought some battery heated glove liners. worked like junk. also bought some batter powered shoe insert soles and they work decent. Biggest issue is that your hands get cold holding that freezing metal radio fast. Cant wear gloves that are too thick as you cant operate the sticks : (

Depending on your battery, expect an APC E 6x5.5 to draw about 60 amps.
Expect an APC 6.5x5 to draw just over 60 amps
(these numbers are with about 3.9 volts per cell)
I wouldnt run any prop with more load than about 60 amps.
I reccomend checking motor temp after limited full throttle to be sure it will not overheat in a FJ/FJU
Fastest speed would probably come from a Graupner 5.5x5.5 with your motor and 4 cells
Best acceleration would be the 6.5x5 prop

From experience
Motor was a Turnigy 2836 and the layer of white powder was thicker than expected and the plane too heavy to float... Poor thing! Guess the extreme cold caused the bell to contract faster than the more solid magnets and the tension was too high for the glue to cope with.

You keep looking to make fun of the HK/Turnigy motors, but the funniest part is when a <$20 motor trumps ur $100 motor. (obv not all, and not in all aspects, but still)

No doubt that in some weird context that could be true.

You need all the luck and good Karma etc to run that motor....so don't start anything that will reduce your needed good Karma.

Good luck.....really, I mean it: "good luck"

Note: Arctery and Mopar are friends, so it is different if they want to have a little bit of fun with each other (given their great history) versus you poking someone you don't know well.

I agree to some extent, but I think one KEY!! issue with those motors is the glue for the magnets. I too have experienced magnets coming loose (but only on 1, the 3648-850kv). Since then I've been adding extra glue to all the motors before running them. Not a single issue since. I'm running the 2836-2350 motor in my Flyjet (which has much better cooling than the Funjet) at 1500watts and 5S. It takes more than just luck to run that kind of power on that TINY motor successfully. Now I can't say up to what outside temperatures it'll keep handling that power, but as it is winter now and about 0 degrees C outside, motor comes down COOL every time (not even warm).
