Multiplex has run out of blue and grey Elapor, i.e. all new models come in plain white color.

so i got my turnigy 3648 in the mail yesterday, and i programmed my esc and everything got hot! i got 4 out of 6 options programmed and it shut off because of the heat. i let it cool out for a little bit and got the timing and PWM programmed. so i gave it full throttle and it didnt sound good. was it because it was spinning too fast with out a propeller on?

Careful if your using the HK ESCs. They are well known to have issues programming on high voltage. Even though you are going to use 4s, or 5s, or w.e, do the programming either with 3s or using 8AA cells. I use one of those transmitter battery packs to do the programming on all my HK ESCs. Any higher voltage than that, and the ESCs get insanely hot during programming and they will fry REALLY quick.

As for the way it sounded, it really depends on what you mean by didn't sound good. Describe what it sounded like. Although, keep in mind you shouldn't be spinning to motor to full throttle without a prop on, it will start skipping as if the timing is off. So that might be the issue you are describing.

What ESC and cell count? I do not think you do a motor any good running it without a prop, but not sure just how bad it can be. How long did you run full throttle with no prop?

well i am very lucky that my esc did not fry during the programming, im using the hobbyking 90-100amp esc with a 6s 2200mah 30c pack. And i think your right it was skipping and losing its timing.
For the turnigy 3648 users out there, did you have to carve out foam for the motor to fit?

Usually this is only an issue with inferior ESC's or inferior motors. The better motors and ESC's have no problems running motors at full tilt for a few seconds, fully unloaded.

They should only be run for a few seconds to get no-load kv information. Unless they have cooling provided, some can overheat if done for longer than a few seconds

I've had 3mm shafts explode at high rpm because of these HK adapters which is why I will only use the Hyperion adapters.

If it would be a joke, I would have marked it as a joke.

I just called Multiplex and this is news to them. Perhaps now "mark it as a joke"?

I wonder how fast a FJU will go on a 6.5x6.5 prop ?
This thought has allways been on the back of my mind.
Do we really need a 7 inch prop for speeds closing in on 200 mph ??

I could not care less about my post count. By the way, the information I provided should not be completely new for guys following the old FJ thread:

I would have put a Twinker-Smiley () at the end of the sentence or added (j/k = just kidding).
