Everyone has already said all the ways to fix it so I have only one thing to say, if you're going to fly it as is, please video it. We can put it up in the what not to do crash section, then everyone can enjoy it.

I agree you have paid enough for typing before you thought about who you were talking to. I believe you won't do it again, so at least you learned a good lesson. Nothing wrong with that. I hated my D.I. but his constant harassment of me saved my life many times. Good luck and get yourself a assortment of screws and the like to have in case of an emergency, good luck, Dave/zeezee

Does anyone here fly outof Mobile Al? Imay be down there on a project for a few months and would love to do some flying. I will get to drive from Nashville so I can bring my FC and a few other planes.
Let me know, what club, and if you allow visitors. Thanks Mike AMA member |

I didn't want rubbing and a fire. And for Screws, I am in the same boat. I found that buying a SAE tap and using non-metric screws that I have laying around works really well. |

Flyby , thank's, great place to route wires, that's done, great! MJ, I live 2 hours from Mobile 40 miles N of the coast in Angie La. I don't fly in Mobile but there is a restaurant there called Felix's that's on the sound that looks like a ratty fish camp and is a 5 star establishment my wife and I go to once a month to eat at. I have a 65 acre "ranch" for nothing but flying, nice and clear with a N-S and E-W strip and club house over looking the field and a nice 1 BR apt for overnight, pool of course. Google map Mobile AL and Angie LA. I'm on the rcgroup map as Dave's Field, in the New Orleans, Gulfport area. Come on down!! BTW, I suffered bad on the gulf coast during and after Katrina and lost everything I ever owned in my life. I am a Christian man and He was all I had left, this place I have now: God gave me.....yep!!!. Dave/zeezee

As far as iwres go...I did the same thing routed them in the air intake....set it up while the plane was in half so I could see where everything goes. I laid the ESC flat on the floor and made a false floor over it for the batt. Was going to use a separate BEC but didn't like the way everything fit, so got a 60a ESC with a 4 amp bec...fits good. |

I have my ESC on the floor centered in the bay and to get proper CG W/O any tail weight my lipo, 3S 2200/50C slides behind it under the wing area, under the CG of the plane. Easy in and out and connecting. Just flew it and it's a joy, beautiful day down south here. I had 80 degree flaps and was flying at a fast walk, son working on pictures now, his $$$$$$ hobby. He got some great shots of it taking off in front of him, up and over him while he was laying down. The lens is a foot long and 3" diameter! Got some killer pics of my P-51 coming out of the sun, I went blind for that shot and some neat pics of my 1SQ quad doing it's thing,it's a blast and fast.. Dave

Asymmetrical motor mounts
Hello all, I have searched high and low for some direction to my dilemma with no luck, and my journey has brought me here to the apparent Fun Cub experts. Hopefully someone can help out or point me to the proper area of this rcgroups page. Apologies in advance if this has been addressed and I just can't find it.
I understand that the FC manual states that the motor mounts are intentionally designed asymmetrical so when the motor bulkhead is screwed to the motor mounts, maximum sidethrust is achieved. (the adjusting screws, when set as recommended, only set downthrust). This sidethrust, I am assuming, is determined by one of the motor mounts being further back in the fuselage half. Here is where I am scratching my head. My left side motor mount (as viewed from the pilots perspective) is approximately 3/16" further back in the fuselage as compared to the right motor mount. With that arrangement, when I mount my motor bulkhead to the mounts, I have a very large left thrust. Is left thrust correct? I have been out of flying for some years now but I am accustomed to having right thrust in most planes. Did I mess up when I glued the motor mounts to the fuselage halves? I am just trying to make sure I have this rascal setup with half a chance of trimming it when it gets airborne. |

I'm not sure on the mount question, mine has thrust to starboard, but my thing is this... When will people here stop saying left or right from behind or from the front of the plane and use correct terminology? It is always, Port or Starboard on a boat or an airplane. You will Never get confused like that. For instance a barge is square on top but has a front. From the top how do you determine front from rear? Bow and stern! We are "pilot's"!..Dave/zeezee ...BTW, we do get it right with nose and tail heavy, not front or back heavy...

Anyway, my mounts are just the opposite from yours with some built-in right thrust (from the pilots perspective). The right mount is about 2-3mm "aft" of the left mount when viewed in the hatch. I suppose you can use the adjustment screws or shims to correct the situation at this point. |
