What plastic bits are you talking about?

Gary,

What are the inside dimensions of the Battery Cartridge please, I'll be ordering batteries before I get the cartridge.

Thanks,
Vince

Hi Vince,

A good question! One I should have answered before it was asked.

I'm using a sky lipo 2200mah 4cell and it's a tight fit but it works - I have also fit a Blue lipo 3300mah 3 cell and it fits with a little room to spare.

These are tight inside dimensions of the FunCub Battery Cartridge:
Width = 1.340"
length = 5.600"

Thanks for the interest!

Actually it is one of the most enjoyable flight experiences out in the bush / fields with a big open sky and your light ship gently floating by ... it is almost surreal and very relaxing.

you can COLOUR me nuts too!!

Normaly I use a 4000 mha 4 cell batt, and sometimes I use a 5000 mha 4 cell
The 5000 mha Is filling it up.

It looks just as beautiful in the dark and flying at night is awesome.

I was just having fun. Depending on how dark it was, I might put up something I wouldn't mind dorking in, like my wing but not my still pristine FC

The FC has really been beefed up to "bush plane status" with all the nice parts we are getting from Gary! He has made this plane SOOOO much better!

It would be cool if Gary could make a gear reinforcement kit of some kind. I already have one installed (that my dad and I made), but I think it would be easy enough for Gary to make a nice product there.

Some vortex generators would be cool. If they work. Gary, did you ever test them properly?

This is a plane I would like to try and light from the inside. Mine keeps the red/white color scheme with white lights in it....

Thanks Beamen!

I have made my own landing gear mod - took some music wire and set of cool wire bending pliers I found and doubled up the stock wire with some slightly different angles. I think I should have used slightly thinner wire as it made them a little stiff. A little bit of wallow is good - especially in a breeze.

If I could do it consistently (like CNC bending) I would do it - just need to build the jig - and there in lies rub... I'll think about it

On the Vortex Generators - they are installed on my plane - whether they are doing anything or not is hard to measure.

I will say this - on final approach over water with floats it was absolutely smooth. Might have been the conditions or a lack of coffee making it so - I don't know but silky it was.

I believe they are supposed to improve climb and increase performance at higher angles of attack by keeping air flow closer to to the wing - making your control surfaces more effective. (in a nut shell...) So if they are doing anything - it's by degrees and not an obvious vast improvement. Drat...

They do make a good conversation piece however.

Here are a couple of pics.

Cheers!

The metal mounts are not a needed part. The plastic ones work just fine unless you put crazy power on the plane. The FC is not designed to be a fast plane, leave that for the Dogfighter. All the after market parts are great but not necesary to the flight of the plane. Do not get lost in all the mods that can be done. Build it, fly it and then decide if it needs to be modded. I am going to build a second one over the winter using many of the ideas on this thread.
