Thanks for the suggestions. Control surfaces direction and neutral state were validated by others at the field along with checking for warped wings, out of alignment fuse, etc. No chattering of servos is heard after powering up or returning to neutral, so I doubt this is related to the servos. Next attempt will be with a much forward CG. If that doesn't work, I'll start playing with the thrustline. But that'll have to wait until after the weekend as work and life are intruding on my flying time.

I am trying to, but do not yet, understand the whole electrical "equation" to ensure a good setup. So I am seeking advice for the best prop for this motor. I have a bigger motor that I will put on the Fun Cub later but I was going to start with this one..........
Turnigy D3530/14 1100KV Spec. Battery: 2~4 Cell /7.4~14.8V RPM: 1100kv Max current: 22A No load current: 1.6A Max power: 315W Internal resistance: 0.077 ohm Weight: 73g (including connectors) Diameter of shaft: 5mm Dimensions: 35x30m Prop size: 7.4V/12x6 14.8V/8x4 Max thrust: 1100g I have 3s 2200mah batteries to use with it so maybe a ????? I have a watt meter to test but I don't want to just go buy 10 props not knowing what I'll use so any guidance would be appreciated. |

I set your specs into my motocalc software and it came back with APC 10x5 as the best choice. The motor temp was too high with an 11x5. If you do want to check out the bigger props, you should use a heat sensor on a test stand set up. While motocalc is a good tool, it is not always right and I use it to zone in but not as a final answer. Dick |

Thanks Mike and Dick. That gives me a place to start. As long as I don't exceed to motor's max amp rating I should be okay, right?

1) Some of us like to tinker and the shopping for the parts is part of the fun. 2) People want different things out of their planes and tailor the power system to match their flying style. 3) Some like to single source their parts so they only have to wait for one shipment. The LHS that carried the fun cub in stock, did not have MFG recommended power system on the shelf. Mike |

$15 motor versus $110 power pack. I already have everything else that I need.

At 171 grams the motor is a bit on the heavy side haven't really seen people use a motor that heavy after researching motors. And using 4's is not as common, that should be a rocket ship! The recommended motor here weighs 134 grams http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXAAGX I decided to go the powerful option with a faster motor bit more than 1100 and bit less than 1250 that some people use. The weight of the motor is 141grams. https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=18120. For now not certain but a 11x5.5 or a 11x7 prop should be good. |

My motor weighs 100g which is lighter than the stock motor.
With the alumimun motor mount (8g heavier than stock) I am nose heavy with my 3S 2650mah pack all the way back as far as it will go. So anything heavier and you are really going to have to get creative. |
