Beat up and spongy but still my go-to plane for video
A look around the fells of the English Lake district as seen from my trusty Funcub flying over Kiln Bank Cross in Cumbria.
Hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did making it. Col. |

IMO I think a 480 is to small. I have one FC with an OS 3805-1200kv and I think its a little to small. It will fly scale ok and loves slow flight but its underpowered to do much else. The next size up in the OS range is a 3810-1050kv and its an ideal size yet still overall light weight. That FC will float pretty well and still has power for vertical climbs and loops. Its does everything well and if I only had one FC it would be the combination I would have. It flies on 3S 2200 30C batteries and an 11x7 prop just great. It doesn't have Garys floor stiffener kit and I don't think it needs it. It does have a piece of wood imbedded in the fuseloge that a cubcrafters suspension landing gear bolts to along with a Sullivan tailwheel also mounted on wood so that makes it a little heavier. All in all its a great combination of power and weight. I have another with the same set up plus struts so its even a tad heavier but it flys about the same anyway. My favorite set up is a Turnigy 3542 840kv and 60 ESC that I got from FunCub parts. It uses a 4S 2200 30C and it has crazy power. I have Garys floor stiffener kits in those plsnes. They have struts or carbon fiber one piece wing rods and wood 12x6 props. They are heave planes with big heavy tailwheels and various landing gear set ups. They float ok but naturally not like the lighter planes. They have enough power to go verticle out of sight while doing barrel rolls. They will do 3D in a good pilots hands but I'm not that good. Some days I like them the best and other days I like the lighter ones, they're all fun.

SQ4MN-
I don't mean to sound argumentative, but I have been warned about comparing motors based upon just their "size" rating, as things differ from manufacturer to manufacture. By the specs, it appears my EFlite Park 480 falls just in between those of the first two motors you mentioned. So I'm thinking that it should be fine if I keep things on the lighter side? |

http://www.rc-airplane-world.com/watts-per-pound.html I really don't think the 480 has the goods for this plane please review this site https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ner_Motor.html I know it may take a while to get here but you can be painting and doing other stuff until it shows up, that is if you want to go this route Just trying to help Ken |

Another thumbs up 3S setup is the Turnigy SK3 3542 1,000kV. You have to shave just a touch of foam in the aft of the motor cavity, but otherwise this is a bolt in high watt, inexpensive, quality motor for those with 3S 2200 mAh packs.

I purchased the Power Pack with the Himax 3516 840kv motor. I rarely read anyone commenting or recommending this motor on here. The is the only fun cub I have flown, so I have nothing to compare other than my other planes. I have to say, the thrust with this motor is incredible. Other guys have flown it at the club and they too comment on the amount of thrust it has.

Hello All,
I would like to thank you all for your positive comments and great posts in support of the situation. The appreciation is really the driving force behind my effort and it is priceless. Mr. Metcalf, I'd like to refund you the cost of the Battery Cartridge and the parcel post shipping charge when returned to me. That's how I send them as this is the most economical option. Cheers! does anyone make a 12x4-12x6 prop that will fit an 8mm prop adapter WITHOUT reaming? as in, it comes with an 8mm hole already drilled? I think I just junked a $5 wood prop trying to ream it. i have a great planes step reamer, but it still didnt make the hole perfectly straight......

A follow-up for you Gary: No, I am not the person who called you. Your parts fit superbly BTW. Part of my misunderstanding came from the fact that, since the majority of the joints just fall together, when one comes along that doesn't respond to several attempts and a copious amount of force, I am thinking it is a misfit.
I was not implying you were acquiring wealth in doing this. I was referring to MY cost. Relatively speaking, certainly not a lot of money, but two of your kits with shipping are almost equal to 1/3 the cost of the Cub itself. The dilemma for all parties in this kind of situation involves the current costs of shipping. I see this in my own profession. Things that would have cost $30 to ship cross-country five years ago now cost me almost $300. For the small amount of money involved, it doesn't really serve either party to ship things as small as your kits back-and-forth. A couple of trips and you've equalled the cost of the product itself. Believe it or not, I don't want to see YOU paying extra shipping and reducing your profit because someone had a moment of inattention. I got something for my money, even if it wasn't what I really wanted. So, sorry for the mix-up. An aside you might find interesting: Just prior to your order I purchased a product (not hobby-related) that came in a plastic gallon jug. The vendor just put it into a cardboard carton and shipped it USPS, who, of course, beat the crap out of it. It arrived in an oozing, disintegrating, sticky wet mess. It didn't capture my customer loyalty, but since they made the offer to send out another, I said, OK, I'll give you another go. The second one arrived in good condition (they had learned a bit more about packaging in the meantime). I opened the box to find they had shipped a product completely different than what I had ordered, even though the first one was correct, and it was still correctly listed on the second enclosed invoice. So here was a company that couldn't even get ONE product correct. In this case I figured...TWO strikes and you're out. See...you're not so bad. (Admittedly, having this incident happen just in front of my order from you didn't leave me in a very forgiving mood) I appreciate your offer, and it does tend to make me a trusting customer. Let's call it water under the bridge. Go ahead and send me the motor mount and charge my account. I will just keep the battery cartridge. I'm sure my FC will end up being the better for it. Jeeze...before you know it I'll be dumb enough to order those totally unnecessary servo covers you're turning out. |

Yeah, I've often thought that a nice value-add service for online hobby stores would be prop adapter specific, balanced prop, sort of like the RC boat space. Cheers
