Just posting to say hi, and to show off my current offroader: a Thunder Tiger e-MTA G2 in the Kaiser flavour. An amazing looking monster truck.

I installed LEDs all around (headlights, light bar, rear) and added a gyro to keep it on track. I also used sticky foam sheets inside the body shell to make the truck sound less plastic-ey.

So far I've broken a wheel hub, a steering link, body mounts, front bumper, and currently it's sitting on the bench after a mishap where it ended up in 6" deep water. I'm waiting on new bearings and a diff housing.

Despite the breakages this thing is an absolute blast to drive on 4S (59.5 km/h on dirt). It gets through everything. Dunes, tall grass, mud, you name it, it takes it in stride. Pretty well controlled in the air, though I'm still learning, and haven't jumped more than about 1 meter high.

Nice one! Wouldn't call it monster truck (no offense, same for E-Maxx, Savage, etc), but it looks totally awesome, sweet ride.

No offense taken. What would you classify it as, if you will? Thunder Tiger calls it a monster truck, it's just that the body is an open top Jeep Wrangler, not a truck.

Hmm, big question. For me there are just a few real monster trucks out there. A monster truck has bad mass center, v-shaped tires, tighter track width, solid axles, 4 wheel steering and so on.

All this modern buggy/truggy stuff is developed well, looks often very cool and drives much better than a monster truck does. But that's it: they aren't monster trucks anymore.

THIS examples are R/C monster trucks to me...especially when you look how they jump, land and move in general

Destrucktion (3 min 31 sec)

But as I said, like your car anyway. There should just be a new term for cars like that. It's a mix of truggy/buggy/stadium truck and a bit of a scaler imo.

Edit: Performance truck just came up in my mind. Designed to race and bash, performing way better than monster trucks.

Well, if you put it that way. But who decided what a monster truck is? A high slung vehicle with huge wide tires? Why can't a monster truck be fast, well-controlled and front steered?

A classic monster truck, like you describe, would be all you need for (real) car bash shows, and it doesn't necessarily need to be fast and agile, as these shows are often indoors. So no independent suspensions, no wide track width, no rediculous speed requirements. But just because there's no real application for a full size "modern" RC monster truck, doesn't mean we can bend the definition a little for RC cars....

Just my 2 cents.
