What a great afternoon of flying... after two full weeks of nothing but a couple evenings with the night vapor, was FINALLY able to get out. UM-T28 early this afternoon (4 flights, all just a blast), and later this afternoon managed to fly the Stinson, T-28, and the Super Cub... all two packs each. The Colorado sunset was giving me nice redish light on the Stinson on the second flight, it just looks fantastic in that light.

Was a little cool... started in the mid 40's, and dropped as the sun set. I did ok, but the Super Cub TX was literally a little stiff.

Shortened the Stinson and T-28 flights by a minute each to allow for cold battery packs, but they both came back at 11.4v, so Im not sure I had to do that.

Well, I've flown several days this week, but never announced it first....as this thread allows.
So....Here goes....
I'm going out flying today...hopefully!
I will take my Topaz S and 1000 watts along with it.
I will also take the Radian and 250 or so watts.

If the lift is good, then I will climb to 100 feet and shut down the motor....I will go for 10 minute flights.
If the lift is not so good, then I will climb to speck height and soar amongst the cloud bottoms.

Either way, it will be more fun than pounding nails into a floor.

Wind 10 mph, gusts to 22.

OK for a 57 oz. 3 meter electric RES?
Still waiting at the field...not for long though.

Pouring rain and quite windy. It a bummer as I was going to go out early for some more flights at the school.

In just these few minutes, the wind has died down to 8 miles per hour.
I am out of excuses.

Okay the wind has changed.
Now I'm flying in 17 to 24.
So far two 5 minute and a 7 minute flight, with a few 3 and under.

Recharging and warming up... it's 3 degrees celsius here.

Well, it's looking like I can either:

A) Wait until spring, or

B) Go fly the new pylon plane now

HHMMmmmmmm....... Lemme think................... Snow on the ground, cold air, clouds that'll blend perfectly with the sky-blue/balsa-tone airplane?

Let's do this

I just got back from putting 2 packs through my plane, just a completely stock Hobbyzone Aerobird 3. That is my only airworthy RC at the moment. I have had it for a long tome now. The problem is that it that the batteries have been sitting for so long Friday's flights were like two minutes each but after a few discharges with some REALLY slow charges, the batteries are coming back to life. I got probably 5 minutes out of one and almost 10 out of the other.

Got to get out and run 4 2200's thru the T-28 this morning, pretty cold, but at least the sun was out. Had fun landings weren't very impressive. First flight without gloves, couldn't handle it any longer and had to put the gloves on. Don't know how I flew thru last winter. I need to get a warmer plan going!!!

Yeah, you are quite lucky, it has been in the Low 20's to mid 40's here. Thankfully no snow YET.
