Man, . I want to go fly. WORK is a four letter word! Not that the weather would let me fly if I didn't have to work.

Yesterday flying:

Flew my new FPV quad LOS, then in full FPV. It was awesome.
Then in the evening, I did two more flights with the quad over the beach and water close to where I live. High risk, but highly rewarding.

Flying over water without floats scares me I know that as long as you're careful and aware of battery time, you should be alright, but still...Brownouts scare me

Yes, it can be a little disconcerting, but its all a mental game. No different to flying over Terra Firma, except the consequences are generally a total loss, rather than a retrievable, mangled wreck.

Joel

I've flown at -10F, had no trouble with foam or plastic parts. My greatest worry is the insulation on the wires. I've been warming it up in the car for a few minutes before changing batteries. I had to rewire one of the aileron servos after the wires broke exiting the wing. I can imagine a mid-air fire if the ESC wiring fails!

The other problem is ice-up after landing in deep snow. I had to quit recently after the elevator servo quit traveling full range. It worked fine after defrosting. The keychain camera lens gets packed with snow. I've been meaning to cover it with plastic food wrap.

I'm only getting about 12 minutes flying from batteries that gave me 30 minutes during summer - I'm not sure if that's due to cold or the addition of the Vtx.

I've tried helicopters in the cold a couple of times and fried two E-flite circuit boards when I brought them in to change batteries. Snow melts, circuits short and the magic smoke escapes. The EasyStar II is a little safer since the electronics are enclosed.

You know I often share videos of my flying on RCGroups, but rarely on the thread I share every flying excursion with - right here.

So here is one from yesterday. Enjoy!

I'm going out tomorrow, looks like its going to be kinda crummy weather so I'll take the blu-baby out and surf the wind. Might take the keychain cam, but I have the dud 1080p cam and it was definitely not worth $60. Who knows might get something good.
