Tamiya Land Cruiser Build

Here are pics of my first crawler/trail rig. (I use the term "crawler" loosely as this is far from a comp rig). Anyway, here is an outline of the project so far:

Tamiya CC-01 Land Cruiser Kit
Full Bearings
Tires and Wheels from the F-350 High Lift
Softer Front Springs / Stock Rear Springs
No Oil in Shocks (A little lube on the O-Rings for smooth motion)
Various Scale Items

My vision of the project was to create a very scale truck with decent performance without altering the kit plastic... ie, no hacking of this precious Tamiya plastic!

Spare tire mount

A very realistic spare tire mount can be built using the following:

(1) extra servo mount included in the kit
(1) plastic spacer also included in the kit
(3) 6-32 allen head bolts
(4) 6-32 lock nuts

Looking good all you need is a elephant gun and pith helmet and your on safari. I am curious how it performs when I saw that kit I immediately loved the scale looks.

I've run it a few times in various stages of completion. It crawls over most obstacles that match it's scale. It won't ascend a boulder or anything, but it looks very scale in the way it articulates over terrain. I have a 65 T motor on the way for it. That will slow it down and give it some low-end grunt. Next weekend will be the first time I really see what it can do... more pics to follow!

Wish I had a trailer!

The rig looks great backed up to my 16' Chris Craft Hydroplane! If only I had a custom trailer! You can see the boat in action at:https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1132496
