JHH FJ-2 Build/Assemble
Well here is yet another project coming at me full speed. I have two FJ-2 JHH Fury ARFs that I need to complete. Both are complete, yet will use differing components. First one will use ROM for gear, the second will use the Global gear that has been cut down from the factory now as the first version would rub the top of the wing skin. So far the ailerons have been mounted in both wing with control horns hooked up using titanium turnbuckles. In additon, I have added fiberglass cloth to the retract bays as the spars seemed not to contact the fiberglass top skin. Rather than just leaving it alone I opted to insert glass cloth and resin to bind the spars to the topskin while and the same time stiffening this gear area. The ROM are a drop in with the air cylinders going the correct location as per JHH plan on the kit build. The global gear the air cylinders face outwards toward the wheels. Not a big deal but the JHH and or ROM look cleaner in my opinion. Also mounted some cockpit kits into the canopy areas of both these kits, one is hand built the other is a vacuum formed painted cockpit. Other differences will be the use of a JHH E Turbax fan system on Neu 1527 1.5Y motor with Flight Power Eon 12s pack. Controller will be a 110HV on one and I hope that the other will get a new 160HV before the test flight. The second bird will get a Aeronaut TF 4000 fan system and a Neu 1527 1.5Y motor with HK packs 12s and a HV110 controller. Well the photos are not in any particular order but I will say that thus far the quality of these kits is exceptional. For the price they are unbeatable. If they fly like my trusty home built JHH F-86 then the both should fly great.

Offering
I believe you can get them from both Larry AKA JHH or from Global JC. Actually a friend of mine purchased these and I'm building his for the price of a free kit. Don't hate, but this was a good deal so I will leave it at that.

Nose Wheel Rotation
With the standard gear it is not setup to do this. But on the plans it show how you can set this up so a more scale look. On my BVM F-86 it does have this but this doesn't bother me much. You could also use the old 90 degree rotating ROM and then rig a steering to connnect when retracted. This is like the ball system that BVM uses. For now I will work to finish both wings and then put the fiberglass lids for wing on to cover the open bay of wires and air tubes. Need to just mount a couple of servos in fuse and then we can be close to some programming of radios.

super easy to do. but, relying on the nose gear well for aux air, may be a bad thing for the tire to take up more room

Started mounting the nose wheel
Actually the bottom ply plate is cut in a way to facilitate the 90 degree rotation. I have open up the bottom fiber glass to enable the retract to clear. Also seem even though the gear is mounted to the top plate inside the fuse the 90 degree rotation leave the wheel hanging out just a bit. I may create a shim and see about getting the gear up out of view. Otherwise I may elect to create the rotation so that the wheel is out of sight.
As for the He-162 maybe I can bring that out to CA Jets for a flying session. I hear that there is a long runway their so I may take advantage of that. The same power system that will power one of these Fury's also power the HE-162 on a E Turbax 12s setup. I will post image of the airsystem and flaps setup later tonight. |
