Gopro maiden flight!

Had a short break in weather this morning so I ran out to trow up the gopro on the super solution. It was calm in town, but when I got to the site the fog was just burning off there and creating a breeze. It wasn't strong, but enough to push the plane around a little, but not real bumpy. The footage came out better than expected. Unfortunately, condensation started to build on the lens as you can see throughout the vid.

So not only was this my first video flight ever, it was my first editing attempt as well. All and all I'm quite pleased with the results. Just gotta get some clear weather to get some good footage with no wind. Let me know what you think. Oh yeah, shot in 720p since I don't know how to handle the 1080 yet and don't think the computer can do it. More to come

I simply used velcro and put in another carbon rod to attach the rubber bands to. Unfortunately I wasn't able to use the case, flying naked . I couldn't get the prop out of the way with the case, especially in 720. So it's just strapped down like Power does except right out on the nose and it still just barely clears the prop in 720.

Yeah, I was going through some cds to try and find some music and came across the Pantera cd and thought Planet Caravan would be perfect for the video, nice and mellow and soothing. I think it complimented the flight quite well.

I just bought this camera too, only in the wide lense format.
Done a little flying with it.

I think I read in the instructuctions to use RAIN-X on the lense to help keep condensation and water off the lense.

Keep posting, and IF you do not mind, I may post some of mine here too.
But it has to get better weather fo me to do some flying

Nice job on the video Forest!!

You hit some smooth air It is a great feeling when you get home and watch the "goods" sometimes you think you nailed it and the footage is bumpy then there are times when you think that the flight was just average and the footage is smooth. This is what keeps you going back for more

I also like how many folks ask if the footage is slowed down, I have actually had PM's asking what software I used to slow down the footage, I tell them that is how fast the plane is flying

Keep them coming....

Thanks Mike! Like I said, it was kind of breezy from the fog burning off and would push the plane off line a little, but it wasn't bumpy. I was real surprised when I got home and had a look, it was smoother than anticipated. In the gopro thread someone asked what software I was using to smooth the footage....NONE! Luckily I was flying into the wind and it would just hang there most the time.

I will definitely have more coming. Vineyard pruning starts as soon as they can get back in the fields so we'll have winery videos soon! Plus in a couple of weeks I'll be doing video for some luxury homes...much more to come.

PS. Thanks for all your sharing of info Mike. You've been a huge inspiration for me and I've been watching and studying the things you do here and have aspired to bring that level of quality. If it weren't for you, I'd be several steps behind.

The rain-x is a good idea. Can't hurt that's for sure.

The hills are turning nice and green right now, we've been getting above average rainfall this year so it should be nice for a while. Last year by the end of April things were pretty much browning up and getting ugly again.
