No snow Daniel but I did get out and give the new FPV bird a lap or two
It was late (after 3:00) but still very nice.

3 FPVs flying at 60 acres today - all independent, ie no one knew the other was there, first in goggle surprise experience

Sun comes out and FPVrs go crazy evidently.

Happy new year also

To add to the complexity. Does it matter what the input voltage is from the power supply (12v or 24v or 28v) in relation to the afore mentioned calculations or do all quality chargers self adjust the voltage output based on 4.20 volt per cell max? Hence the need for intergrated balance board?

Example, so in the case of a 3s lipo the charger will only utilize 3x4.2v per cell or 12.6v total output to the lipo even if there is 28 volts input into the charger from the power supply?

Oh how I wish now that I had taken some EE classes in college beyond electrical physucks 201. Volts, Amps, Watts, Ohms, C, Wave Form, Flux Capacitor. lol I really don't want to burn my house down in a giant lipo ball of flames.
Sorry Lee. I was posting from my phone without my glasses and thought I was responding to Steve.

Anyway, yes and no. For most quality chargers, you need to set the output voltage/cell count or it will auto-detect the correct voltage when the balance plug is attached (my iCharger does this). Input voltage does not affect this. However, on the higher output chargers, you need a higher input voltage in order to be able to take full advantage of the charger's capabilities. For example, my 306B will charge up to 6s packs at a max rate of 30A. However, it can only do that if th input voltage is >23v. At 12v it can only output about 500W or, charge 6s packs at just under 20A rate. Power in = power out and there is a limit to how many input amps the charger can take, so it needs more voltage for higher amp output. And yes, even with 24-28v in, the charger will only output up to 4.2v per cell for lipo charging.

Thanks Larry for sharing your knowledge. It's like a strange new world with an abundance to learn. While skiing at the pass last night, I talked with my brother-in-law who is a double E, about lipos & non-intuitive electrical / electron concepts. The snow was the best I have seen at the pass in years, snow quality rivaled Crystal but it still was no Parkcity.

Nice flyin Mark.

However your next vid should be entitled "Sparrow FPV". with rapid panning high speed shots of woodland creatures fleeing for their lives as you thread your way thru tree branches at speed, skim the river inverted & mow thru the brush on knife edge. lol
