Joe,

Wish I was there to see you with your new Vyper. I still like mine a lot as well. Have fun!

Hey Sam,

That hop up replacement motor for the PA 260 thrust 30 is Hyperions HP-ZS3020-10. It's $10 less then the thrust and handles 380 more watts (850 vs. 470). There's a 2 oz weight penalty but it will run the 13x6.5e WOT as long as you want.

With two ounces more on the nose, you'll have a hard time balancing out the CG, the battery doesn't go much further back. I'd stick with the Thrust 30 on 12x6 dude..

On my PA 260 I had changed out the stock servo at .37oz with a heavier Hytec unit at .66 oz. I had also beefed up the wimpy tail wheel. Both of those changes apparantly were enough to avoid any balancing problems when I switched over to the Hyperion unit a while back. Thanks for the heads up Eric.

Lesson for July 5th, 2011

Always check your ailerons for proper direction before you take off.

And with that, I present you with a video of someone who didn't do a proper preflight before his maiden
The plane is a Bill Hempell 50% Edge. The plane is not new, but apparently its new to the pilot as he just bought it

Thinking of selling some planes:

Abell Extra 260 (30cc Electric) - w/ wing bag, and 2 x 6s 5000mAh packs (runs on a single 6s pack) - all RTF minus Rx. Perfect intro into 30cc birds. $400 (local)

Twisted Hobbies Xtra Slick - w/ 6 x 2s 450mAh packs, and 6 x 3s 450mAh packs (all Gens Ace) - all RTF minus Rx. Great foamie (this is a budget slick, so has my own paint on it). $115 (local)

pm me for more info/pics.

Looks like the weather is going to be great tomorrow. Anyone planning on hitting up MARC tomorrow evening? I won't be able to get out as much during the week because I am back in school and an going to be working later.

Another excellent replacement for the Thrust 30 is the Motrofly 2815 with the FlopGun special 930Kv wind. I had the Thrust 30 on my EF 540T and it performed OK although the 540T is ~13 Oz heavier than the PA260*. When I put the Motrofly unit on, the plane really came alive and the weight penalty is under 1 Oz. In both cases I was running a Xoar 13x6.5 and blue 2200 packs.

To get this Motor I emailed Ken at Motrofly and he told me to order the 1100Kv unit with "special instructions". I had it in two days!

Speaking of FlopGun recomendations, he also suggested the Airtronics 94809 digital metal gear servo. These will put out up to 39Oz-in of torque at 0.10 speed in the same size case as the Hitec HS65MG and they are smoooooth. They are pricey at ~$45, but it's one of those "get what you paid for" deals. Here is the sevo link:

Airtronics 94809

Cheers -mark
*BTW my PA260 weighed 33Oz, the EF 540T weighs 46Oz.

Thanks for sharing Juan, good videos. Vitter, time to come full around with those rollers.

And yes, I love those Airtronics 94809s, they are worth the extra coin. Fast, center perfectly and strong.
