Seattle/Renton/Bellevue/Kent Area 3DHS or just 3D Pilots

Hey everyone

As most people who fly in this area know there are not a ton of 3DHS planes flying. In fact there is not much 3D flying going on at all. I would like to change that and get a group of us together for some weekend/weekday flying.

I am looking for some good places to fly. I have a park I use on weekdays and a field for the weekends but I would like to have this at a more organized field.

Weekday Park:

Weekend:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...05643&t=h&z=17

Neither of these fields are officially for RC but electrics up to 55" will probably have no problems here. I have flown at both and haven't had any problems with people getting upset.

I would like to shoot for something on Saturday mornings weather permitting.

So let me know what times will work, where you like to fly, what planes you have, and if you would like to get this into something of an informal RC club.

Thanks!

I haven't seen that field yet. It looks close enough for a weekend flight session. Is it 3D friendly? If you safely hover and harrier and fly low over the runway not near people do people immediately yell at you? I have had that before and it just kills the fun of 3D, well part of it at least...

Anyway thanks for replying hopefully we can get a small fly-in together soon!

Greetings Ledbed...

I'm near Lake Tapps and fly every chance I get. Use to be a "Park flyer" off and on for about 3 years but found the best way to meet other flyers on a regular basis is to join one of the 3 AMA fields in our area.

1. Lake Sawer Hawks: http://www.lakesawyerhawks.org/
2. Flaming Geyser Flyers: http://www.flaminggeyserflyers.com/about.asp
3. Seattle Rams: http://www.seattlerams.com/IndexMain.asp

If you show up to any of the fields you'll see a wide range of flying.. from easy scale circles to full blown wild and crazy 3D fun. Up to 39% 200cc big 3D planes.

Check out the websites for where and how much it cost to join.. then all it takes is a AMA card, a desire to fly and intoducing yourself to someone at one of the fields. Then off ya go.

I'll send ya a pm as well...

Ohh and me.... I fly bouncy 32" EPP Yak 55, EPP combat wings and I fly crunchy balsa 3D (51" Eratix, 57" 3DHS Extra 330SC and 70" H9 Funtana (9s Electric)).

I'm sure we'll meet one weekend soon... thanks for posting!

Happy Flying...

Hello

Im north of you and I have not owned a 3DHS plane yet but I will be getting a 70" AJ Slick soon

This is my home flying site Maltby Park but I think it will be to small for the 70" Slick. I will most likely look into these flying sites: http://www.mar-c.org/ and http://www.nwef.org/

I'm in. I'm from the Renton area and fly mainly 3DH planes with a few EPP foamies thrown in. I don't belong to any clubs but have been a guest at the Sawyer Club. Nice people but I usually just stick to any wide open area I can find that does'nt bother anyone. I think it'd be great to get a few people together. I'll shoot you a PM.

Great this was exactly what I was looking for!

I was at a well established RC field in AZ and moving up here I flew in some parks and didn't see many people. When I moved up here I checked out Marymoor RC field which was a great field but it seemed like people only flew very scale mild aerobatics. When I was there as a guest I was doing some slight 3D (hover and harrier) over the empty runway and was scolded for flying inappropriately it could have just been a couple of guys opinion but it turned me off from that club.

I think it be great to get some 3DHS low flying in the mix especially if its where people enjoy it!

Hello there. I fly at 60 Acres on the Eastside. Soon I will be flying at the newer field established by NWEF.org. Previously I was flying at Magnuson Sand Point but I have heard that officials are soon to be putting an end to this with new signage restricting RC flight from the park fields. This may or may not come to pass.

Since I live in Seattle proper, where there is really no place to fly other than small school fields, etc. I'd be down for about anywhere within 20-30 miles or so. That place in West Seattle looks great. I can meet up on Saturday or Sunday mornings.

I've recently become the owner of 2 3DHS planes, a 47" SHP and a 40" Edge. Having a blast with them.

So a potential plan:

Saturday morning at either the Flaming Geyser or Lake Sawyer field? Of course weather will determine if this is possible. Let me know who can potentially make it and if you prefer one field over the other.

I am surprised how many people jumped onto this thread it should make for a nice little 3D fly-in one of these days.

Hey led,

Not trying to steal your thread but I see a couple names that are not members of the 3DHS Owners Club Yet

Sorry for the shameless plug

Thanks

Do you have a link to any information on this? I am currently flying there during the week and have heard no such thing.

This is where the speculation about Magnuson being closed to RC Flyers originated.

let me know, if you haven't already, if you want to show up.

Next weekend I am hoping to check out either the Flaming Geyser or Lake Sawyer field. I will post more details as time gets closer.

Hi Flopgun. Been meaning to try your field over on that side of the bay. Thanks for all the invites BTW. Going to make the Saturday morning meeting at the field mentioned, can ya make it? Been keeping an eye on that 48" EF Extra but biding my time to see how his MX works out.
