Hydra 240 fire

What might I be doing wrong to cause a Hydra 240 to burn-up after 4mins?

1. Engine temp. 10-15 secs prior was 130 with Octura M575
2. Using Neu 2230 1.5Y
3. 10S2P using 4 PolyRC XP 5S1P 6000Mah
4. 5.5mm bullet connectors
5. Advanced timing set to low

I'm assuming your hydra is the HV 50 volt version................

The neu is so efficient that it would most likely stay cool for 4 minutes...............isnt a 75mm prop freakin' huge??? Was it from an airplane??? Is it even possible that swingin' that monster prop would have over-amped your speedo???

BTW - 5.5mm bullets are not nearly as good as the 6mm.......only 1/2mm diff, but i've seen a big difference.

Programmed correctly - checked with USB link. Is there a particular setting that might causes this issue (shutoff at 30V, timing at low, others I believe at factory)

Yes, 50 Volt version.

Tried props starting at 65mm and worked up to increase speed.

Are you suggesting 6mm for all connections or just ESC to motor?

What type of difference did you see with 6mm vs. 5.5?

Hull: Converted Venom Segad C1 Racing [Length: 58" Width: 15"]

My 5.5's have gotten up to 200* and 6mm about 30* less from the couple of times I measured. That is a big hull, but that neu is a good choice in my opinion. I think a better idea, in my humble opinion would have been to go up 2 cells and use a smaller prop.

Will go to Castle's 6.5 connectors - thank you.

Talked to Castle and they do not know why it caught on fire. This is not the first time it's happened to me.

What size prop for 12S ?

I may have meant 6.5 mm. I'm at work and can't really check. Man, I'd back off quite a bit on the prop........... Maybe a prather in the 55-60mm range, your motor may not be reaching full rpms and drawing huge amps.

Castle makes 6.5mm others make 6mm Wanted to keep Castle connection to castle ESC.

If the motor is pulling huge amps, wouldn't that show up in a temp also above 130? It had run 15 mins before and reached 180-200 without issue.
