It should be ready for us distributors to order in a few days, I am awaiting the mail from FrSky confirming that I can place my order. Then it takes more or less 2 weeks from the Factory to my doorstep.

BMP085 Vario

Just a short update. I have the BMP085 barometric sensor and PIC communicating now. I'm working on the conversion of the sensors outputs to temperature/altitude. I'll post some code when I have at least the temperature being correctly calculated. The math is very messy compared to past projects I've done. The altitude is harder than the temp.

I think we should start new 'FrSky 2.4Ghz - XXX' threads as each project actually gets to useful stage.

Frsky receiver Duplex (Telemetry)

Hi All.

I already put these thread in another forum, but know I think it is here the right place to put it.

I am designing (but I am not an expert) a board based in an Atmega88 to measure the altitude, battery voltage by cell and rpm. I read that the telemetry channel is RS232 3 wires. What type of signals are the 3 wires, Rx what are the other 2. The voltage level I guess is a 3Volts. Am I correct?

I didn't decided yet if I am going to buy the BASCOM AVR compiler or use the C language of the AVR Studio. I do not know either one, but I am going to try to learn doing this project. I think may be the BASCOM AVR is easier than C, but, C is more common and is easy to transfer from one MCU type to another.

I retired last year and start to learn MCU's (AVR'S), I only know to program in assembly, but, to do all the calculations to read the altitude I must learn a high level language, make it in assembler it is very difficult.

Hi, Manuel !

The 3 serial wires are: Gnd, 5V, Rx.
Rx voltage level is RS232 !
Fortunately, there is another set of contacts, not documented, located in the opposite side of the board. Look for 4 PCB pads, without any connector, with a 1.28mm pitch, so quite not standard. Those 4 contacts carry a full Tx/Rx TTL serial line The square pin is PIN1, the 4 pins signal are: 3.3V Rx Tx Gnd

Now that's an interesting question. I can do that measurement when the new two-way set is out. It will require changing one or both antennas to a pigtail with RP-SMA for testing (which I have).
Maybe somebody knows already ?

Thanks for the information. About the additional contacts, can we transmit data down and receive data from transmitter RS232 input?

Is there a two way transmission between the transmitter and receiver?

According to Mr.Chase, yes.
Not tried yet, though, because my module is JR type and my radio Futaba, waiting for the issue of Futaba modules, mid May.

Hi guys,

I'd like to buy the 2-way system as well when it is available.
But I have a question concerning the telemetry alarms.
I have read this document:

It seems, that there are 3 "channels" for alarm functions available.
2 channels can be used and configured someway by the user, and one channel gives range warnings, in 3 different intensitys.
Is this correct?
The range warning function can not be configured, and is always available?
That would be great, so that there is no chance to mess this function up with wrong user settings and stuff.

Hi, All!

Renatoa, I apologise to bother you again. I saw in this here the Duplex manual, and as you said, in the input receiver defenition we can see the 3 Volts and the 5 Volts. These are 3/5 volts inputs or outputs for the peripherals we can install?

They are outputs to power the sensors. About the 3.3V sources, we were advised by Mr.Chase to not load them too much, but without specs how much is too much.
Because 3.3V I guess could be the internal rail power of the receiver, I wouldn/t connect anything there without clear specs of the allowed consumption, I would better use 5V instead. If you need 3.3V use two diodes
