another crash :( F-16 on 4s second flight video

My first flight went well, the second not so good, CG could of been off a little plus, I think either one of the tailerons came off from pulling too many G's, I thought it was the tail when it happend but I recovered the parts and the tail was good, so I suspect the tailerons must of came off.

sorry for the horrible video job by my wife!

I just lost the airframe, which was $20bucks, everything else is working. HE clocked it at 89mph but, that was a short distance of 120 feet at wide open throttle. I did it the first time he did not get it, so I was going around. I think its way past 120mph. You guys can hear the motor go and it was only for about 3 seconds and it already clocked 89, if i ran it for about 10 second full it would be much faster.

what came off for you?

THis was my first crash with this jet. I think I had way too much power for the airframe, I had to cut alot of foam to get the battery to fit, also the fan area. My first flight was very good but I did not open it up much as I did here. YOu can hear the jet go past us but that run was only 3seconds or so.

my taileron ripped took a piece of the fuse as third one had carbon rod imbedded in the fuse /taileron section and that solved the problem...look in the foam jet fourum for the phase 3 f-16 top speed contest..thats were you will see all the tricks

yea I am going to pass, just going to buy a fiberglass one

THe amount of time spent to glass it and modifiy the structure its just easier to get a ready made fiberglass one, Im looking at the proedf f16 for $170, looks cool and should be fast.

hey do you still have it? or is it crashed bad?

I have a F104 I tried to handlaunch, that was one that can not be done, I tried all kinds of different ways. DID you rebuild??

the trick to hand lauch is this

first hold the plane at the cg spot, if you can not get a grip then palm it. Then wot and then run with the plane and then just gently toss it up like a basket ball lay up, do not throw it, if you have a high power system which I suspet you do it should just by itself. I have done the HET F20 like that on 6s, that was a awsome plane. The F104 is just a design you can not hand launch the other ones are pretty easy to do. You know how they toss the pizza dough in the air thats how you toss the airplane with full throttle run with it and then gently toss it up, then quickly after two seconds pull on the elevator you are good to go.

the hp f-16 is a great flyer but with anything over 550 watts it needs major mods to stay in one piece, the mod thread is full of mods to make it a great plane

Good thing your only spending $20 bucks on an airframe according to the guy on camera you crash a plane every week.
