Hi all,

I'm not sure what I should do with my old RC transmitter, receiver that I purchased in 1986. Can I donate this or sell it or what??? It seems like a big waste.

Sell it on ebay. Lots of people collect
vintage rc equipment. Don't expect to get
a lot for it, but it may be worth the bother...

If it is a piece of equipment that you enjoy using you may be able to have it upgraded. It is being done especially to single stick equipment. Kraft radios are popular upgrades as are Poro Line ans some Ace sets.

How can I get it upgraded? The systems that I have are old 4 channel Futaba radios.

If it's not gold stickered you can't. I have a 6 channel paperweight.

In the late 80's the FCC changed the specs on transmitters. The ones that met the new spec had gold stickers affixed to them to let you know that they were the new style.

Now, if you put batteries in a transmitter that isn't gold stickered, you will be immediately detected by these guys that ride around with dozens of antennas and receivers on blacked out vans. They'll swoop in, pull the radio out of your hands, smash it on the ground, then throw you in the van and haul you away for cross examination.
Usually takes about 20 seconds from the time the Tx is switched on until their arrival.
