Which one has the better features? The telemetry in the DX8 is very interesting. I guess we'd know better when the DX8 comes out and people use it.

I have a DX7 and can't stand the non-lit LCD and the stupid way of changing models. The UI is generally awful. I was naive at the time I bought it.

I also find it stupid, especially since it's not documented, that mixes don't work the same in that some switches can only be used for some mixes. Why?? It's software that controls the mixing and it's more complicated to write software with special cases and such compared to writing software that handles universal mixing and switching.

If you need 8 or less channels, the choice between the DX8, 9503 and 11x should be an easy one. The DX8 seems to have better features, speed, and programming. (We'll see for sure when it comes out.) If you need 9+ channels the decision gets a little harder. I'm not sure I'd spend $500 to $600 on a radio as old as the 95(3)03, so I think the 11x would be my choice.

The DX8 looks nice and it has flap delay, a feature I want on my next computer. The telemetry is also a nice feature. The 9503 has delay on more channel and glider modes and programs. Also the 9 channels are great when doing scale with a lot of servos, lighting, doors/boomp drop...The 11x looks sooooo cool. Plus it is a radio that you don't have to upgrade later.

I agree the 9503 design is a bit old but proven. Is upgrading from the DX7 to the DX8 enought ? Not sure. Wonder why they didn't put the telemetry feature in the 11x. Go figure ??!!

I had the opportunity to play with a DX8 Yesterday. The system has a nice heft to it and felt more like a 9503, the gimbals were very smooth and the case sculpturing felt similar to my 11X. The battery is a 4.8 Volt NIMH of 2000mAh capacity, so it should last through a full day of flying.

No, But I just saw another post that said 9/7/2010. See link below:

It is the only post I've seen on a date so far.

but is that the release date for the US or for Europe? For the price I would go for the DX8 over the 9503

In the podcast, it was mentioned that it would be released simultaneously everywhere. They also mentioned they expected to announce more information by the end of this month. Of course, nothing was guaranteed...

I was told at the convention that it will be shipping Mid September. Horizon didn't have a SKU yesterday so I'd say take that date and believe what you will.

They were making jokes on the pod cast about not having a inventory number for it yet. Although I do find it slightly odd that they havent put up a page for it yet...
