Just wanted to let you know that the DIY capacity sensor including capacity alarm made by Schorsch is ready ! You can use 3 different current sensors (50A, 100A, 200A) and set the capacity alarm in the sensor.
I tested the 50A and 200A sensor, both work very nicely !

So stop waiting and build it yourself. The components cost about 20-30€.

Have a look here: http://www.rctronix.de/wp/?p=120

Google Translate on Horizon Hobby Germany: http://translate.google.com/translat...%2Fdankeschoen

Congrats to Andy and the other developers for their role in the DX8 winning the first FMT-Adler 2012 for the best RC transmitter

March sounds good to me :-)

The glider software add-on.

"2012 was for Horizon Hobby, a very successful year and the results of this year's Toy Fair in Nuremberg show us that we are in 2013 on the right track." Says Jörg Schamuhn, Director of Strategic Marketing at Horizon Hobby, Inc. "Our success not least, we owe you as a consumer and for that we thank you now.
The spectrum DX8 is our most popular radio control system and has just been awarded with the first FMT-Adler 2012 for the best RC transmitter. A choice that was made by the model and the athletes themselves are exactly why it is so very proud. This facility has now been extended by a comprehensive software add-on to a private glider package. "Intended originally for sale to Horizon Hobby has short decided to give the software to all registered users of the spectrum community." This makes our range of users happy and the DX8 upgraded again to significantly ".

Features of the software include extension

4 flight conditions
4 area types (1 aileron, 2 ailerons, 2 ailerons + 1 flap, 2 ailerons + 2 flaps)
3 tail types (normal, V-tail, V-tail B)
Transmitter controls for motor control
Curvatures (including defaults)
Flap elevator curve mixer
Aileron-flap mixer
Elevator-flap mixer
2 freely programmable mixers
4 Aileron differentiation settings
Independent Höhenrudertrim per flight condition

The add-on will be available in March under community.spektrumrc.com.
We wish all our current and future DX8 owners have fun with the new software!

BTW, that's also the FIRST time we ever said anything besides "soon" for a software product release announcement.

New marketing guy ?

Reminds me of a saying I like (translated): Everyone said that it was not possible to do that. Then there came the new guy, which didn't know about that, and he simply did it.

I like that. It's the grown up way. I call it progress.

I wonder if anyone out there has had this DX8 problem. Mine is exactly 1 year old today and I'm glad I sent in a service request today.

It started out two months ago when I would lose total control on four different planes. A few with orange rx's and two with AR600 DSMX rx's. I was able to recover in time by quickly moving the throttle stick back and forth. One plane never recovered and was destroyed. I noticed on one of the AR600's the red frame rate loss led was flashing. I assumed possible interference or bad receivers and replaced the oranges with AR400's. The problem continued. Then I thought I saw my display blank out and return while flying but couldn't be sure and thought no way! Then another Parkzone plane went in and I found the frame rate led blinking on this one.
While walking back to our runway with the pieces and everything still hot, two of us witnessed the DX8 display blank out! So after much pain I hope the guys at Spektum can figure this one out. My trust has been shaken.
BTW, switched over to my trusty DX6i and all is well so far.
