Anybody know if you can assign any control to any channel, like the EVO?
I had a programming puzzle that my DX7 could not handle. A friend of mine with an EVO solved it in less than a minute. He has a Spektrum module internal.

If I were to choose between the Dx8 or the 9503 I would go for the DX8 if you don't need the extra channel on the 9503.
Overall the DX8 looks like a updated 9503 (or perhaps a DX7) minus a few features.
I think any radio with Telemetry is the way to go.
They haven't announced anything yet but I think you will see a GPS and other features available to the telemetry capable radios in the future.

From what I can tell the DX8 doesn't have a lithium battery in the transmitter, but the Euro Tray version does.

Totally agree with telemetry as the way to go, but Spektrum timidly nibbles at telemetry with this DX8 system. Receiver battery voltage is the most viral of the four they offer, but GPS integration will be next. I'll wait until GPS telemetry is offered and market matured by JR. By that time fuel level monitoring may be available so we can watch receiver/ESC voltage and fuel to figure out when to land safely.

Flap delay and flight battery voltage (I'M mostly electric) Cool !

I wanted the 11x but with those features I may be tempted for the DX8 and swing the extra dollars left in the direction of an electra jet...

DX7=$349.99
9503=$549.99
Aurora 9 (w 7ch rx)=$429.99
Futaba 8FGA/H=$449.97
Futaba 7C=$259.98

These may of course be discounted at various retailers, however, I think it's biggest competition will be the Aurora 9.

I'd like to know this too, I've been a bit creative with my channel choices and setup on a few planes with the DX6i My brother has a Graupner MC-24 with a Spektrum module and the flexibility in that is astonishing.

A 12-channel radio like your brother's will generally have more flexibility than a smaller radio. That's to be expected.

If you have already done it with your DX6i, you can be sure that the DX8 will support it.

Absolutely, different class of TX Looking forward to get my hands on a PDF of the manual so I can have a nose through all the features.

Gimme a break, "all" sensors for the DX8 means one temperature, one voltage and that's it. To have the Aurora with the same sensors, you need to add $50 for the sensor station and one temp sensor.
For the $229 you quoted you also get the GPS, RPM and fuel gauge. Please make correct comparisions.

In the telemetry tab of the HH link, I read:

"*full-range telemetry module included with DX8 system"

I'm not sure what that means exactly.

The module appears to be included. The sensors RPM for example are not. The module is not included with the Aurora, but not $229 as he reports.

I have no issue with comparisons, when you do a fair job. But Mikaro is not doing that he is just trying to stir the pot.
