That may change in the future. and it will make this place much better by getting rid of the useless stuff that gets posted in threads of this size.

I've learned so much about the DX 8 from Freechip that all I can say is "Thanks!"

Please keep up the good work.

Well, the threads that I linked to contain useful information (one of which you started), are considerably smaller than this one and contribute to the wealth of information that is available in this forum.

Nonsense, I just don't think consolidating potentially useful information outside of this forum is useful and it only undermines the integrity of this forum.

Maybe not historically, but he sure got caught up in it this time.

Getting back to discussions about the DX8...

Now that I have a LiPo I would like an option to make use of all that available battery capacity. One NEW option I would like to see is one that would allow the screen to stay lit up until I depress the "Back" button or maybe select a longer period say up to 5 minutes. Anybody else think this might be a nice option?

Yes it is a nice option and probably why it's in the DX18.
The options in the 18 are
Off,ON, then up to 60secs (forget the increments)

Now that you ask for it I am sure it will be added if not already added to the list of future updates for it.
Possibilty of features working it's way down the line of radios.

Thanks for the suggestion, Franco. It's already on the list.

It seems as though us lowly DX8 owners are of little priority in the "Airware Update Department". The DX18 just got an Airware update already!

For those new to the thread, once you replace the 4.8 NiMh pack with a LiPo, you will find you only need to charge the box once a month.... maybe a little sooner, depending on how much you fly, but it is truely remarkable how long the battery lasts. I've flown for several weekends, and not seen the voltage drop below 7.8volts.

When the DX 8 was "new," didn't Spektrum release a quick "flurry" of updates?

I think this is normal with any new product, and the DX 8 is more or less mature, so time is not of the essence as with a new product and potentially "bad" bugs.

Not that I recall and it still has known outstanding bugs for months now with no update for them.
