Good news, a birdy let me know that servos are on their way here. Not sure if they make it Saturday or will not have them till I can work on it next weekend. But I am stoked, ready to finish the ship.

Rainy Saturday

Well, the birdy was right, servos arrived this morning while I was out running errands. Four JRDS 378 High Voltage servos for the wing and two JRDS 388 High Voltage servos for the fuse. So, got the servo tray fitted exactly for the servos and the bind and logger/voltage check plugs (so I do not have to dig the RX out when wanting to function with these ports). I also got the wire harness strapped down to the right longeron via eltronic safe silicone.

One thing I did do with the 388's for the fuse, I actually glued them together. They do have beefy mounting lugs, but there is only one per end and that is all that could fit on this thin a servo. I thought it would lock in the servo more securely to have them secured to each other and basically giving four mounting lugs to the entire tray. I used Devcon Plastic Weld per recommendations of Bill, set quick, has a thick viscosity so stays where you put it before you make the bond.

Calling it quits for now, leg officially is out of the cast, but standing on it for a good while has a price to pay, I give...

Marc

Thanks JD and MA for expiditing, great help!

nice idea gluing the servos together. I agree that should make a stronger mount.

What about over heating issues, if one fails, strips gears, or has other problems, etc.? How about sticking them together with servo tape?

There is not much glue there and I can seperate if necessary. I would guess that the fuse has more air available than the wings. Servo tape is the enemy, I have never used it but once and it failed and have not owned any since.

Marc,

I didn't mean to mount the servos with ST, but rather just to stick servo 1 to servo 2, as you did with the glue. Even less movement possible between them with the glue though. Hope they can separate easily if needed.

It is especially a great idea when the servo has the single centerline mount like these servos and the Futaba 3150s have. I use a tiny dollop of Goop when I glue servos like this. Strong, flexible, and yet comes right off if you need it to do so.
