I live right in Midtown/Downtown Rick, so I'm a city redneck! I was born and raised in Marietta, but have lived in the city my entire adult life.

We haven't met, but I dont fly at any clubs though. I will be traveling up to Dalton on Saturday with a buddy of mine to the Southern Scale Challenge. I love looking at the big scale and turbine models, so that should be fun!

Are you going to be there by any chance?

Was not aware of Dalton, either. I have a significant honey-do list.

Yeah, there are quite a few of us near the area on RCG. Bradley aka bbausman lives out here in Mid Town near me. He is a heli and plank guy, and Ive seen a couple of other guys from the metro area showing up on RCG as well.

I'm really excited about the Southern Scale Challenge. I want to build a 600 size scale heli soon, and want to check out what other guys have done. There is supposed to be a few large turbines there as well, and RC Heli Pilot Magazine will be there covering the event.

The Atlanta flyers will be having a fun fly in October. http://www.atlrcclub.org/

Yeah, we know. They just nailed the beta test version of it late last week and that was the last obstacle. The heli now stays in a hover wherever you put it and stays there with a preset height. It can also return by the flip of a switch to its original takeoff point.

I do hope so.

I need a Black unit to replace my 3-year old unit in my TRex 500.

Probably. It is a very difficult problem to solve.

On the other hand, by the time it is available, I'll be able to fly well enough so that I won't need it.

Or not.

I would really like GPS on my camera helicopter. Its so big, heavy, and expensive that I have not risked going flybarless on it, yet. For me to use GPS on it would be a bigger step. I'll have to wait to see the "testers" results.

I understand, but they work, they are easy to set up, stable, and lots of features.

If you want a camera platform, you can't beat it.
